Come non parlare della più grande band di tutti i tempi, amata da più di due generazioni, icona degli anni 60: i Beatles. Formati da John Lennon (1940-1980), Paul McCartney (1942), George Harrison (1943-2001) e inizialmente Pete Best (1941), sostituito poi da Ringo Starr, nome d'arte di Richard Starkey (1940), il quartetto di Liverpool sforna esibizioni nei più svariati locali di Amburgo e nel famoso cavern della loro città natale. E' qui che vengono notati dal giovane menager di talento Brian Epstain che riuscirà ad ottenere, dopo un provino con la Decca, un contratto per l'importantissima casa discografica E.M.I. che vede del talento nei quattro giovani.
La storia che avviene in seguito non ci interessa in quanto 'Introducing the Beatles' è il primo album pubblicato in America. A differenza dalla casa discografica inglese che pubblicizza benissimo l'album negli States la piccola etichetta Vee Jay rende un totale fallimento questo disco. A partire dal luglio del 1963 Introducing comincia a girare per il mercato fino alla fine del 1964 quando i diritti dei Beatles verranno acquistati dalla Capitol che pubblicherà il secondo album Meet the Beatles. 'Intoducing' uscì originariamente in due versioni una Mono e una Stereo, alcune copie contenevano le canzoni "Please, Please me" e "Ask me Why" e altre "Love me do" e "P. S I Love You". Dal punto di vista dei contenuti non è altro che il corrispondente disco inglese 'Please, Please Me'.
Molto più interessante dal punto di vista del collezionismo; del disco infatti per il poco successo sono state prodotte poche copie e in differenti edizioni, retro copertine con pubblicità e altre con le songtrack, differenza di canzoni ed etichette etc. Per la scarsa reperibilità già dagli anni '70 cominciarono a circolare migliaia di Bootleg, adesso presenti in maggior quantità degli originali!!! Si nota bene quali sono contraffatti e quali no, infatti nella copertina dei bootleg in cima vi è una sorta di pieghetta (disegnata) e soprattutto nell'etichetta il nome dei Beatles si trova sotto il buco del 33 giri e non sopra insieme al nome dell'album come per gli originali. Le quotazioni sono differenti tra le varie edizioni sempre tenendosi sopra le 150 euro (i Bootleg non valgono altro che 18 euro) fino ad arrivare a qualche migliaio di euro. L'edizione più rara è quella stereo prodotta in meno copie e comprata ancor di meno.
Mi è sembrato lecito parlarvi di questo disco in quanto caso strano nella discografia Beatlesiana e del mercato del vinile in generale, ricercato da tutti i collezionisti dei '60 . Mai interessante quanto l'ultra raro butcher cover, ma sempre ad alti livelli.
