E' la prima uscita di questo gruppo inglese, conosciuto anche come "Charlatans UK". "Some Friendly" potrebbe essere annoverato come uno dei primi album "Brit Pop".
Di certo è un lavoro di rottura nel mondo della musica Pop/Elettronica, precursore di quel mondo che verrà dopo fatto di Oasis, Blur e fratelli vari. Nel disco si apprezza certamente la maestria all'organo hammond, un ritorno agli anni sessanta e la voce di Burgess strascicata e sensualoide.
"The Only One I Know", "Then", "Flower" e "Sproston Green" i pezzi migliori. Apice alla prima uscita poi parabola discendente fino ai giorni nostri, se si fa eccezione per qualche bel pezzo nei dischi successivi.

L'album non è un capolavoro, ma rappresenta un buon album di esordio.
I Charlatans sono un faro instancabile di buona musica dagli albori degli anni 90.

Questo secondo me è l'album più adatto per avvicinarsi a questa band.
Consigliato agli amanti del madchester sound (Stone Roses, Ispiral Carpets, Happy Mondays) ma anche del brit pop in generale.
