UNA PROVOCAZIONE:
12 anni fa, sotto l’insegna ‘Boop7’, avevo recensito tutta la prima discografia dei Corrs (fino a ‘In Blue’, l’album di ‘Breathless’) liquidandola con il definirla di belle canzoni e niente di più.
Il gruppo delle 3 sorelle e dell’1 fratello, Andrea Sharon Caroline e Jim, uno dei pochi gruppi nella storia della musica Pop di formazione familiare avevano dal primo album, ‘Forgiven, Not Forgotten’ (1996), fino a ‘In Blue’ (2000) prodotto canzoni dove la distinzione fra musica irlandese e musica Pop si notava in modo evidente a seconda dei brani (tranne nell’ultimo dove le canzoni quasi tutte Pop – tranne lo strumentale ‘Rebel Heart’ [non presente nella recensione] – sembravano da metropoli americana).
Dopo 12 anni mi spingo un po’ oltre definendo l’ ‘Unplugged’ (per Mtv) il loro migliore album di quella produzione e il brano migliore in assoluto (arrivando a ‘Would you be happier?’ del ‘Best of’ del 2001), ‘No frontiers’ di una cantante Folk-Pop irlandese, Mary Black (con parole di un artista famoso di quelle parti, Jimmy MacCarthy), interpretata (non lo sapevo) da Sharon e Caroline (la violinista e la batterista) (grazie al video me ne sono accorto).
Insomma, le due sorelle del coro hanno battuto la seducente voce di Andrea (ma non la bellezza – anche se Sharon è rimasta graziosa e Caroline poco prima del 2010 aveva ai miei occhi conquistato – un po’ di – terreno).
Il resto non mi interessa, secondo me non essendo più interessanti dopo il 2001: ma essere venute in concerto nel 2004 nella mia città, Genova, mi riempie di orgoglio. Mi sembrava una città dimenticata dalla musica Pop, la mia.
