Parola d'ordine revival. E si perchè, dall'uscita nel 2001 del bellissimo "Is This It" dei newyorkesi Strokes, si sono moltiplicate le band-tributo ai mitici 70's: Hives, Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, Jet sono solo alcuni dei gruppi che, con un mix di garage orecchiabile e rock'n'roll, hanno definito il trend del momento, cadendo però, in alcuni casi, in album banali e privi di mordente (vedi "Room On Fire" dei già menzionati Strokes).
Sullo stesso filone potrebbero essere collocati i Raveonettes, alias Sune Rose Wagner e Sharin Foo, duo di Copenaghen che, con i soliti elementi ed una strumentazione assolutamente vintage, pubblica nel 2003, un anno dopo "Whip It On", il suo secondo lavoro, "Chain Gang Of Love". E il risultato è sicuramente piacevole: 13 tracce tra garage, rock'n'roll danzereccio e qualche simpatica novità, come "Noisy Summer", pezzo lento e più vicino ad un certo noise-pop che al solito mix proposto dalle varie formazioni pseudo-revival dei giorni nostri. Certo, si può rimproverare una certa brevità del tutto (33 minuti sono, effettivamente, un pò pochini...), ma all'ascolto di pezzi trascinanti come "Love Can Destroy", il gioiello "Heartbreak Stroll" e "New York Was Great" non si può che elogiare il lavoro del duo danese, che sicuramente si eleva nel marasma di uscite discografiche.
Complimenti ai Raveonettes, quindi, per un album onesto, certo non un capolavoro, ma comunque di buona fattura e senza dubbio al di sopra della media a cui siamo abituati normalmente.
