Quando hai meno di vent'anni, puoi avere gusti musicali ricercati quanto vuoi, differenziati quanto vuoi dai tuoi coetanei ma l'età influirà su di essi anche contro la tua volontà. Ma chi se ne frega della volontà. Se un disco piace, piace.
Così capita che ogni tanto si inciampi in qualche disco molto pop, adolescenziale oltre ogni limite, piaccia a chi è in questa età. Se avessi scoperto i The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus più di 2 anni fa mi avrebbero ossessionato in un modo incredibile. Invece li ho scoperti l'anno scorso, bello il debutto, inascoltabile il seguito e un EP con cui si sono rialzati e un ultimo disco che non mi fa nè caldo nè freddo.
Dicevamo: Don't You Fake It, il loro album più "tirato" se si può dire così tra i tre che hanno pubblicato (escludendo il demo autoprodotto e l'EP "The Hell Or The High Water) corrisponde al loro disco migliore. Molto adolescenziale sì. Magari sono anche molto insultati sti Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, d'altronde fanno anche un genere molto modaiolo che io mi rifiuto di chiamare col nome con cui lo fa wikipedia. Ma nonostante tutto, mi piacciono, non mi hanno ancora stufato e questo disco è ancora abbastanza frequente tra i miei ascolti.
Assolutamente niente di nuovo, sia ben chiaro, non è l'album che ti accende la lampadina in testa, però è un buon consiglio per chi va dai 14 ai 17 anni (età sparate a caso).
La prima traccia "In Fate's Hands", una delle più tirate è insieme a "Waiting" (la seconda in scaletta) e "Atrophy" la migliore del disco, meritano una segnalazione anche il singolo "Face Down" (molto adolescenziale, ma quante cazzo di volte la dico questa parola?) e l'ultima.
Una nota negativa è rappresentata dalla presenza di due pezzi ancora più sdolcinati degli altri, uno solo sarebbe andato più che bene, ma 2 sono troppi (Your Guardian Angel e Cat And Mouse che prese singolarmente sono anche buone). Ma la cosa non è così tragica
La caduta di stile è rappresentata da "Damn Regret", va bene che siamo in un disco adoles...azz...adolescenzialissimo(?) ma qui si esagera...
Alla fine un disco buono, che non pretende troppo, ascoltabile e niente più. Resta comunque questo cartello virtuale:
