"... as dark as the ocean
as hard as the rain
you've got me weak with emotion
you're such a beautiful pain
and i cling to my pillow
and scratch at my veins
you kiss like a killer
such a beautiful pain..."

01 Refugees (02:52)
You are the dust and,
I am the rain,
Lets go out in the rust and
Let's gather the change
Let's take to the streets
You and I we're life's refugees
But like Bonnie and Clyde we're free
Don't say there's nothing between us
You stain the pavements
I'll take the blame
Our love is our saviour
Our life is our grave
Let's take to the streets
You and I we're life's refugees
But like Bonnie and Clyde we're free
Don't say there's nothing between us
‘Cause we're all refugees
And we're all drifting like leaves
But like Bonnie and Clyde we're free
Don't say there's nothing between us
We'll live for the sunshine
And smile through the rain
And we're all refugees
And we're all drifting like leaves
But like Bonnie and Clyde we're free
Don't say there's nothing between us
So let's take to the streets
You and I compete with the freaks
And like Bonnie and Clyde we're free
Don't say there's nothing between us
Well there's nothing between us
Well there's nothing between us
02 Autograph (03:32)
And the morning comes with coffee in your chair
And the smell of cigarettes is in your hair
There's a sound that shouts outside the hotel room
And at night the bulbs of cameras flash at you
And if we don't have a future
If our lives split like shattered bits of glass
And if we don't have a future
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph
And at night the ball of neon lit our fate
And our shadows painted many different shapes
But the movies turn complex in front of you
There's just a smell of cigarettes left in the room
And we made fake conversation
And we peered through broken bits of glass
And it's all just complication
But too complex to ever last
And if we don't have a future
And if this is dissolved into the past
And if we don't have a future
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph
04 Imperfection (04:43)
You grow your nails too long
The scratches on your arms
You taste like orange chocolate
You always put your hands in my pockets
Your teeth are not quite straight
Your mood swings oscillate
Your language is appalling
And you play with my hair in the morning
Your imperfections are so beautiful
I can't control
My animal soul
Your imperfections have got me unashamed
Can't concentrate
I'm a sucker for your beautiful-ish face
Sometimes when we kiss
You touch my fingertips
synthetic words can't hide me
Passion breeds like death inside me
And slowly we become one
We stick like chewing gum
I want your language to be appalling
I want you to play with my hair in the morning
Your imperfections are so beautiful
I can't control
My animal soul
Your imperfections have got me unashamed
Can't concentrate
I'm a sucker for your beautiful-ish face
Your imperfections are so beautiful
I'm out of control
My animal soul
Your imperfections have got me unashamed
Can't concentrate
Your imperfections make you what you are
My defective star
My inelegant love
Your imperfections are so beautiful
I'm out of control
I'm a sucker for the defects in your soul
07 Lovers (04:03)
She shivers in the rain
It's the capital connected with her veins
Stepping under statues and on trains
Till we are undercovers
She giggles like a child
With no sign of all the tension in her life
It's written on a t-shirt and it writes
That there is no other
'Cause we are the lovers
We are the lovers
We're different colours
But we stand up as one
We are the lovers
We are the lovers
Two different colours
But we stand up as one
All the silly things we do
Just remind me of the flippancy of youth
Kissing under statues throwing food
And getting into trouble
She shivers in the cold
It's the capital connected with her bones
Jumping into taxis here we go
¿? no other
'Cause we are the lovers
We are the lovers
We're different colours
But we stand up as one
We are the lovers
We are the lovers
Two different colours
But we stand up as one
'Cause we are the lovers
We are the lovers
We're different colours
But we stand up as one
We are the lovers
We are the lovers
Two different colours
But we stand up as one
Stop
10 Beautiful Pain (03:46)
I’m shaking and aching and talking to the sky
And I shiver in the night but I can’t sleep
You’re dark as the mascara that drips down from your eyes
Look what you’ve done to me
You’re as dark as the ocean, as cold as the rain
You got me weak with emotion, you’re such a beautiful pain
So I shelter in the wardrobe and shiver on the stairs
And I slide in the gutter with the leaves
And I try to talk to God as if he is really there
Look what you’ve done to me
You’re as dark as the ocean, as cold as the rain
You got me weak with emotion, you’re such a beautiful pain
And I cling to my pillow and scratch at my veins, you kiss like a killer
You’re such a beautiful pain
