Another view è una raccolta composta di materiale inedito e di demo? Dunque è un disco che consiglio solo ai veri fans dei Velvet Underground, che desiderano avere la raccolta completa del gruppo? Per il resto non c'è niente di nuovo, due demo strumentali, la breve e psichedelica Ferryboat Bill, a mio avviso una delle più brutte canzoni dei VU, la versione originale di Rock n'roll, che può essere interessante?
I pezzi forti sono le due versioni di Hey Mr Rain, in cui si sente in maniera evidente la mano di John Cale e del suo violino magico. Un pezzo trascinante, in cui la viola elettrica di Cale disegna traiettorie nervose di follia che serpeggiano accanto alla chitarra di Lou? Soprattutto la seconda versione della canzone è ottima, il suo stile è quello dei primi Velvet, si avvicina a classici come Heroin e Venus in Furs (ovviamente senza eguagliarli. . ). Poi c'è We're gonna have a real good time togheter, un bel pezzo veloce che riprenderà Lou Reed in Street Hassle, e Coney Island steeplechase, che pur essendo molto lontana dallo stile Velvet, secondo me è un piccolo capolavoro di rock n'roll? Insomma, un disco che non dispiace del tutto? Ma non è nemmeno un disco che piace...
