Be Not Nobody, album di debutto con il quale Vanessa Carlton divenne famosa. O per lo meno si godette qualche mese di fama mediocre con "A Thousand Miles" che ricordo passava diecimila volte al giorno su MTV ed intitolai come la mia canzone degli esami di 3a media.
Dopo questa precisazione che credo poco vi interesserà vorrei passare alla descrizione del disco uscito nell'estate del 2002.
Appena inserito nel lettore posso assicurarvi che la vostra espressione cambierà radicalmente, ed in peggio intendo, poichè se non sono ascoltate con cura le canzoni potreste etichettarle "tutte uguali", dovuto alla sua passione per il piano ed i violini (strumenti che non siamo abituati a sentire spesso nelle canzoni che ci vengono trasmesse ultimamente), i suoi ritmi lenti e la sua voce che sembra quella di una bambina che sta entrando nelle prime fasi della pubertà.
Però questo disco non é proprio da buttare, anzi la sufficienza riesce ad ottenerla perchè comunque se si ascolta con cura si riesce a distinguere una canzone dall'altra ma soprattutto si apprezza la dolce ed armoniosa musica accostata alla sua voce, che anche se lascia molto a desiderare é usata bene (e non mi contraddico ora, perchè una voce può essere bellissima ma se la persona non è capace ad usarla non serve a niente).
Ora è qualche mese che ho questo, non ho ancora trovato alcuna canzone che proprio mi disgusta anche perchè é musica orecchiabile per tutti, l'unica cosa è che alla lunga potrebbe lasciarvi indifferenti appunto per il suo stile un pò invariato.
Le canzoni che preferisco di questo disco sono "Paradise", "A Thousand Miles" e "Rinse" poichè riescono a trasmettermi molte emozioni che canzoni di altri generi che adoro (come il metal) purtroppo non riescono a farmi provare.
Comunque ritengo la Carlton un'artista mediocre, certo aggiungerà ben poco alla storia della musica, finirà nel dimenticatoio a causa della saturazione del mercato musicale, ma non definirei le sue canzoni pianificate a tavolino, ossia "commerciali" perchè si differenziano dal resto di musica già esistente sul mercato.
Per finire vorrei precisare che questo è un cd che ascolterete notte e giorno e che fossi in voi non comprerei originale ma lo scaricherei da internet (cough cough cough...)
