I Vesania con "Distractive Killusions" arrivano a quota tre album. Sicuramente l'originalità non è mai stata e mai sarà il loro punto di forza ma nonostante ciò anche questo lavoro si difende in maniera dignitosa, sia a livello di songwriting che di resa.
Il combo polacco è devoto al black metal sinfonico, con fortissime influenze dei Dimmu Borgir, ma anche degli Emperor, soprattutto a livello tastieristico. Ma la creazione di atmosfera è ben bilanciata dalle chitarre molto aggressive in stile Behemoth e dal gran lavoro di Daray (batterista dei Vader) dietro alle pelli. Orion, singer e chitarrista nei Vesania, non è altro che il bassista dei già citati Behemoth: da questo si può benissimo intuire il perchè le chitarre suonano così simili a quelle di Nergal. Ad un primo, conoscitorio ascolto, si rischia di cestinare senza remore questa band catalogandola come l'ennesimo clone di Borgir e compagnia. Tuttavia andando più a fondo questo "Distractive Killusions" riserva delle sorprese; grande spazio viene dato alla malefica tastiera di Siegmar che si scontra con le granitiche chitarre di Orion e Valeo, che di rado, abbandonano le ritmiche e nascondono il basso di Heinrich. Lo stesso Orion ci offre anche una discreta prova al microfono, dimostrandosi un musicista polivalente. Interessanti infine i testi a tema prevalentemente filosofico.
Gli amanti del black sinfonico possono quindi essere felici di incappare in dischi come questo, perchè i Vesania hanno deciso di rimanere fedelissimi ai canoni del genere, dando dimostrazione di saperlo scrivere, suonare e produrre egregiamente.
