E' un periodo di cambiamenti questo per De Ville che di nome fa Williams Borsos classe 1950, prima con il suo gruppo si faceva chiamare "Mink De Ville", adesso si è messo da solo, e si fa chiamare Willy.
Il suo però non è un cambiamento solo di nome e quindi di facciata, ma anche musicale. Ha abbandonato il gruppo e quindi strumentalmente il sax e i fiati, aprendosi verso suoni e atmosfere latine, facendosi influenzare da Van Morrison, Lou Reed e Dire Straits.
I musicisti che accompagnano Willy in quest'avventura sonora sono di prim'ordine: Chet Atkins chitarrista e produttore di gente del calibro di Roy Orbison, i Chieftains, Ray Charles e niente meno di Elvis Presley, Jeff Porcaro batterista di grande classe, dai due Dire Straits, Guy Fletcher tastierista e Mark Knopfler chitarrista e in questo caso anche produttore.
Miracle è un gran bel disco, De Ville tuffandosi nelle sue sopraddette e predilette sonorità latine riesce ad esprimere il suo gran talento compositivo, dando il meglio di sé.
Nessuna delle dieci canzoni che compongono l'album, riesce ad abbassare la media di quest'ottimo disco. Il primo brano "Gun Control", ci fa subito capire cosa intende per rock il nostro, regalandoci questa "sceneggiatura" cinematografica venata di soul. Subito dopo si passa a una delle perle assolute "Could You Would You" uno dei brani più belli ed intensi dei Them, gemma Morrisiana che il nostro gitano interpreta eccellentemente. "Heart and Soul" ci fa sentire il suono Messicano, è un brano dolce e intenso, interpretato magistralmente, con la sua splendida dolcezza diventerà un brano da antologia. I due brani successivi "Assassin of Love" e "Spanish Jack" sentono della presenza di Knopfler, quindi atmosfere Straits-iane: lente, introspettive e notturne. La canzone che dà titolo al disco "Miracle" è una ballata pianistica, sincopata e creativa ed anche quella più radiofonica. "Angel Eyes" è un altro splendido brano, Willy che è d'origine Portoricana, ci regala questo gioiello latino-caraibico emozionante da accapponare la pelle. Lenta e ancora una volta notturna è invece "Night Falls" brano che De Ville sa rendere denso e drammatico allo stesso tempo. "Southern Politician" è il brano in cui il produttore Mark fa sentire di più la sua presenza forse un po' a scapito di DeVille, nonostante questo, la classe si fa sentire e non è acqua... Termina l'album "Storybook Love" ballata Devilliana per eccellenza (nomination al premio Oscar per "The Princess Bride", in Italia con il nome di "La Storia Fantastica") sarà un brano che accompagnerà spesso Willy nei concerti dal vivo, grazie alla sua toccante ed equilibrata melodia.
Con questo brano finisce questo bellissimo album che riesce a regalare forti emozioni, cariche d'atmosfere, suoni e colori fortissimi, senza nessuna caduta di tono ma anzi pieno di idee e soprattutto di note.
Un altro disco che non sente il trascorrere del tempo, e come tutti i capolavori, con il passare degli anni, ad ogni suo ennesimo ascolto ci "rinnova" le cellule del nostro audio-encefalo.
