2002: "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", secondo album dei Coldplay. Album che li consacra al grande pubblico, più di quanto avesse già fatto l'album di esordio: "Parachutes" nel 2000.
Note pop-rock malinconiche, tristi, estremamente coinvolgenti, inconfondibili, fin dai primi minuti di ascolto si sprofonda nel vero stile 'Coldplay'.
La canzone trainante dell'album è "In My Place", un pezzo veramente originale e orecchiabile allo stesso tempo, molto bello ed avvolgente, paga però il prezzo di una eccessiva commercializzazione ed un esagerato passaggio in radio ed in tv, tanto da renderlo un vero e proprio tormentone di quell'anno.
E' nell'ultima traccia "Amsterdam" dove troviamo il meglio dell'album. Magiche note al pianoforte accarezzate dalla sussurrata voce di Martin, la rendono una canzone indimenticabile, una perfetta chiusura per questo cd.
Manca un vero e proprio pezzo-capolavoro, che spicchi nell'album che, forse, perde qualche colpo nella parte centrale (vedi "Daylight" e "A Whisper").
Le migliori oltra alle sopracitate: l'estrema desolata tristezza della splendida title-track "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", "Clocks" con un bellissimo e incalzante inizio col piano che poi esplode in un magnifico e ritmato ritornello e la riflessiva e lenta "The Scientist".
Non avevano ancora raggiunto il loro apice creativo, che arriverà col seguente album "X&Y", però un album godibilissimo di una band dal sound del tutto originale, che riesce bene a conciliare apprezzamenti di critica e pubblico. Notevole la bella ed affascinante raffigurazione geometrica e misteriosa in copertina, forse ispirata alla title-track.
Un consiglio ai fans dei Coldplay: anche nelle canzoni meno famose ed addirittura non pubblicate negli album, troviamo i vertici della loro creatività, che a volte superano quelle contenute nei tre album... vedi: "I'll See You Soon", "2000 Miles", "Your Loves Means Everything", "Proof" e tante altre che consiglio vivamente di scaricare a tutti i veri fans della band!
