In questa mia prima recensione parlerò di 'wake the dead' ultima uscita dei Comeback Kid gruppo hardcore punk canadese che in questo periodo ascolto praticamente tutti i giorni.
Ma prima di parlare dell'album vorrei esprimere il mio pensiero sull'hardcore di oggi che dopo i miti degli anni ottantaai giorni nostri è al livello più basso da quando è nato, grazie anche alla nascita di nuovi generi come ad esempio emo e post-core dagli anni novanta in poi l'hardcore è calato molto. Alla continua ricerca di un nuovo gruppo che riprendesse i canoni del passato mi sono imbattuto in questi Comeback kid che formatosi nel 2002 sono oramai alla soglia del terzo album in uscita a febbraio, la loro musica è violenta, trucida, durissima, ma anche profonda, una musica che vi farà saltellare in su ed in giù nella vostra casa, la voce del cantante Scott Wade è bellissima, furiosa ma anche melodica, le schitarrate di Andrew Neufeld e di Jeremy Hiebert sono velocissime quanto potenti.
Il cd è composto da 11 canzoni della durata di circa 26 minuti circa (in pieno stile hardcore) e inizia con "false idols fall" attacco a tutti i finti idoli di cui emmtivì e le radio ci inculcano nella testa, si passa all'icazzatissima "my other side" per poi arrivare alla title track "wake the dead" senza dubbio la più bella del cd, canzone che vi entrerà in testa e che non vi uscirà più e che vi farà capire che questo è un gruppo con i controcoglioni, quindi si và avanti con la carina "the trouble i love" e si arriva alla bella "talk is cheap" che al ritornello vi farà urlare your talk is cheaaaap, si arriva alle belle "partners in crime" e a "our distance" canzoni in cui si risalta la voce di wade, e quindi alla parte finale con "bright lights keep shining" e "falling apart" un pò più lente ma sempre energiche, e per ultime ci sono le velocissime e bellissime "losing patience", e "final goodbye" ultima perla di questo stupendo disco devastante sotto tutti i punti di vista che conferma i Comeback kid una tra le migliori hardcore-punk band di oggi.

ps provate a vedere alcune loro esibizioni live in cui il cantante corre sopra il pubblico e nelle quali si scatena un pogo incredibile!
