Seconda recensione per i Crimson Glory!
Di poco superiore al precedente per la band americana, forse perchè ci sono "Painted skies" e "Lonely".
Non è un vero e proprio album progressive anche se ne racchiude tanti elementi ma è soprattutto uno straordinario " Masterpiece " con quella miscela di Power Metal, Metal progressive e virtuosismo mascherato. Grande Midnight!
01 - " Lady Of Winter ": l'introduzione al disco con un'ottima performance del cantante che raggiunge picchi altissimi.
02 - " Red Sharks ": pesante e diretta, un'ottima batteria ritmica e chitarre estreme per questa canzone che fà riferimento all'Unione Sovietica e al Comunismo.
03 - " Painted Skies ": la ballad perfetta! Memorabile, estrema e profonda per Midnight che raggiunge l'apice della sua carriera.
04 - " Masque of Red Death ": questa mi ha poco sconfifferato, ritmo trash ma per fortuna la voce in falsetto ribalta la situazione.
05 - " In Dark Places ": assolutamente una delle migliori con riff di chitarra estremi e rifiniti, con particolari momenti di pausa oscuri.
06 - " Where Dragon Rules ": una marcia trionfale, ti rapisce col ritornello. Un'altra performance di Midnight cristallina.
07 - " Lonely ": una delle più grandi ballad della storia del rock! Di sicuro la voce fà la differenza ma " Jon Drenning " alla chitarra tira fuori dalla sua matita una delle canzoni simbolo del metal anni 80.
08 - " Burning Bridges ": finalmente si arriva ad una delle tracce più epiche del disco con una dolce introduzione e un finale al quanto pesante.
09 - " Eternal World ": di sicuro inferiore alle altre, anche se contiene gli elementi più progressive del disco.
10 - " Trascendence ": atmosfera magica, superba melodia, un grande Midnight e finale epico. Un particolare: Midnight sembra Robert Plant! Da scaricare, ascoltare con attenzione e valutare.
Conclusione: la leggenda però è durata troppo poco! Bruttino "Strange end Beautiful " e discreto "Astronomica".

Transcendence rimane probabilmente la vera perla nascosta della discografia Heavy/Power ottantiana.
La splendida riuscita ad una serie di elementi che sembrano trascendere il genere stesso.
