Strano, anzi vergognoso come questa band si sia dileguata nel panorama rock acustico americano... arrivo nel 1997 questo primo capo/lavoro.
12 ballads tra pearl jam e soundgarden (i riferimenti non sono casuali) il disco si propone ricco di una sonorità allucinanti dal punto di vista delle chitarre acustiche che accompagnano la splendida voce del giovane Travis Meeks. Il disco ebbe successo abbastanza, 4 milioni di copie vendute, ma non abbastanza per portare la gente a riservare un pezzo di orecchio per questi ragazzi, davvero entusiasmanti sia tecnicamente che artisticamente, "Solitude" su tutte oltre al singolone "Touch, peel and stand" e "Shelf in the room".
Ottimo anche il live a seattle, introvabile in vhs ormai dove la band dimostra un'energia e una predisposizione al palco da pochi.Quasi inosservati passarono il II e il III album. Da segnalare "Dirty Road" pezzo pauroso. Per che non li conosce un consiglio, per chi li conosce già il ritagliarsi un paio di cuffie e un lettore cd in buono stato, dileguarsi in un bosco con 2 bottiglie di birra, sedersi sull'erba giallastra di ottobre e premere play. Anche in compagnia. I brividi risalteranno le vostre emozioni. Rock on!
