Al momento di questo disco Donna aveva già alle spalle i successi di Love To Love You Baby e Try Me, I Know We Can Make It. Ma il brano più venduto, quello che l'avrebbe consegnata alla storia, sarebbe uscito come 45 giri da questo breve ellepì, parlo ovviamente di I Feel Love. Purtroppo questo celeberrimo brano di solito ha il compito di rappresentare, insieme al massimo ad un paio di altre hit, tutta la produzione della premiata ditta Summer-Moroder-Bellotte, questo deriva dal fatto che alcuni singoli siano stati famosissimi e che spesso si pensi che la disco non sia un genere che vada per ellepì, ma che funzioni meglio sulla breve distanza di un singolo ballabile e accattivante. Ora, che I Feel Love abbia venduto moltissimo e che sia diventata una canzone iconica tanto e più di Love To Love You Baby è fuori discussione, ma non pensate che questo sia solamente l'ellepì stampato per farsi trainare dal singolo. Magari è anche così, ma dentro ci sono un paio di cose davvero gustose.
Il "concetto" dell'album precedente, cioè Four Seasons To Love, era stato quello dell'alternanza delle quattro stagioni nel ciclo solare. Carina l'idea, non eccezzionale il disco. Il concetto di questo album, invece, è davvero davvero interessante e simpatico: confrontare il proprio bagaglio musicale col repertorio "classico" del passato, col proprio presente e con un immaginario futuro. Il futuro sarebbe I Feel Love, che in effetti, a detta dello stesso Moroder sarà la "madre" della musica techno, dance ed elettronica. Love's Unkind e Back in Love again sono due brani irresistibili, semplici, in cui la musica è accattivante e si presta a far brillare l'interpretazione di Donna. è bello, infine, vedere come il passato faccia riferimento vagamente alla musica soul più facile, ma soprattutto a Gershwin nella title-track. Questo brano è infatti quello che avrebbe meritato la fama di I Feel Love, e per me è il capolavoro del disco, oltre che uno dei migliori brani del catalogo del trio. La chiave sta nella semplicissima combinazione tra Moroder-Bellotte, geniali pionieri della disco e di tutto ciò che c'è di elettronico e minimale, e gli standard delle "hollywood songs". La sezione di fiati ha il sopravvento, il ritmo è sempre incalzante, marchio di fabbrica del trio, così come la bellissima voce di Donna, che prima dell'ultima strofa si lancia in dei vorticosi vocalizzi memorabili.
Amo Donna, amo questo disco e soprattutto amo la title-track: un crossover assurdo e coraggioso.
