E' tornato il nostro, il vostro, il mio, slow-hand Eric Clapton con "Back Home".
Si mostra in gran forma, Eric... gli anni passano ma le sue dita e il suo tocco chitarristico restano sempre uguali, la sua voce particolare e inconfondibile non perde colpi melodie fresche accattivanti e coinvolgenti come la track di apertura So Tired (8) (così stanco, ma non si direbbe). Con Say what you will (7.5) Eric fa un salto in Jamaica e ci propone questo brano reggaeggiante dal ritmo lento e marleyano (fateci passare questo aggettivo): quei fiati in sottofondo ci trasportano su una spiaggia jamaicana... Con I'm Going Left (8) la carica continua i riff di chitarra (essenziali quanto basta) sono un marchio di fabbrica e i cori ci catapultano nel periodo della disco-music degli anni d'oro. Atmosfere d'amore con Love Don't love nobody (7) in cui in alcuni punti sembra di ascoltare River Of tears. Ancora raggae con Revolution (6.5): una canzone che non mi coinvolge molto. Si riprende con Love Comes To Everyone (7.5) una gran bella melodia e i cori ancora svolgono una parte importante nell'arrangiamento.
Bisogna aspettare la track #7 per ascoltare il più nero tra i bianchi bluesman Eric ritorna alle origini con questo blues in 12/8 Lost And Found (8.5). Piece of my hearth (7.5) si commenta da sola una ballata con splendidi accenni di hammond. Un electric piano dà inzio a One day seguito da un magico tappeto di hammond che apre la strada alla voce di Clapton, chiara, semplice, pulita bella l'apertura armonica e i cori, anche qui decisivi (8). One Track Mind tiene alta la media-voto dell'intero album con un ritmo coinvolgente e un testo quasi sussurrato (7.5). Run Home To Me (8.5) una canzone da ballare con la propria amata 6.18 minuti molto intensi per un 12/8 classico. Inutili gli elogi all'hammond che nella seconda parte del disco ha, sicuramente, un ruolo di primo piano. L'album si chiude con la title-track Back Home (7.5) con arpeggi di chitarra quasi-country; belli i fiati malinconici nel chorus.
Il mio consiglio? Comprate quest'album al più presto, non ve ne pentirete di sicuro!
