E' il 1997 quando esce The Colour And The Shape, l'album che ha portato i Foo Fighters al successo e ascoltandolo non mi sorprende affatto che siano diventati una delle rock band più conosciute del momento.
L'album è caratterizzato dall'arrivo dell'ex-batterista di Alanis Morrisette, l'eccentrico Taylor Hawkins che porta un'atmosfera ed un carisma unico al gruppo. Difatti il disco è probabilmente uno dei più riconosciuti e contiene dei pezzi storici della band di Dave Grohl.
L'album si apre con un dolce intro intitolato "Doll" che grazie alla calda voce del cantante ti rimane in testa che è un piacere.
A questo punto entra in atto la parte più distruttiva dei Foo Fighters con "Monkey Wrench", brano punkrock di una potenza incredibile.
Adesso siamo entrati nel vivo del cd; da qui in poi il gruppo dimostra di saper scrivere canzoni di vario genere passando tranquillamente da tracce acustiche ad altre più country senza far mancare la loro famosa energia e melodia.
I brani principali del disco sono, oltre la già citata "Monkey Wrench", "My Hero", canzone che parla degli eroi di Dave Grohl da piccolo e la grande "Everlong", dove nel video il frontman dimostra di essere anche un buon attore (And i wonder when i sing along with you if everything could ever feel this real forever, if anything could ever be this good again). Anche al di fuori di queste stupende tracce il disco è davvero fenomenale e ti fa sentire davvero orgoglioso di averlo comprato.
Peccato che non sono mai riuscito fino ad ora a vederli dal vivo, ma prima o poi ci riuscirò cazzo!!!
