L'album da solista di Gwen Stefani (frontwoman dei No Doubt) si intitola Love Angel Music Baby, l'acrostico LAMB si addice perfettamente all'intero album, in quanto risulta fragile come un agnello (non per nulla la parola inglese lamb significa agnello). Il lavoro dell'eclettica cantante si distacca nettamente dalle atmosfere della band, poiché abbraccia atmosfere elettroniche condite di sonorità rubate alla scena del pop degli anni ottanta.
Sembra addirittura di ascoltare un disco datato di Madonna, se ovviamente non fossero così presenti la componente elettronica ed il tipico sound della scena dance. Nonostante l'artista italo-americana si sia avvalsa di grandi collaboratori, tra cui spiccano Missy Elliot, Outkast, Linda Perry (ex vocalist dei 4 Non Blondes), il disco non decolla, non convince neanche quando la Stefani scrive e canta pezzi come "What Are You Waiting For", nella quale parla di sé stessa e della propria vita da popstar, il motivetto è coinvolgente, entra in testa, ma alla fine finisce per rimbombare. In "Rich Girl", in cui duetta con Eve, parla della propria vita se fosse una donna ricca (forse non lo è abbastanza!?), anche se afferma "Your lovin' is better than gold"; in "Cool" affronta il tema di un'amicizia profonda sorta dalle ceneri di un amore finito.
L'album risulta superficiale, lento e addirittura noioso, anche quando la cantante dice di essere fortemente affascinata dal mondo giapponese, oppure quando in "Crash" intona un ritornello banale simile alle canzoncine per i bambini, o ancora quando in "Real Thing" spera che l'uomo che ama non vada via, poiché l'unica cosa che sente reale è questo amore così sofferto.
L'album è un collage di suoni, di parole già sentite, già lette, è un lavoro che si appresta ad entrare nella Danger Zone, non quella zona di situazioni imbarazzanti, come accade nella canzone omonima, bensì in una pericolosa sezione in cui non regna né l'amore, né gli angeli o la musica, ma solo la presenza ingombrante di un disco farraginoso che poteva rimanere nella testa della cantante.
