Gli Hatebreed non sono un gruppo capace di particolari “evoluzioni”. Sono un gruppo “schiacciasassi”, il cui principale obbiettivo è quello di gridare tutta la loro rabbia continuando ad essere fedeli a loro stessi nonostante il rischio di sembrare monotematici (anche se penso che a loro non importi granchè). Con la fine del 2006 è tempo anche per loro di una nuova uscita discografica che infatti conferma quanto ho appena detto. I cinque loschi figuri del Connecticut in più di un decennio si sono sempre confermati in grado di produrre di dischi di grande impatto e violenza, conquistando una folta schiera di fan e dando il via al cosiddetto fenomeno del “metal-core”.
Con questo “Supremacy” la band non tradisce, anzi accontenta tutti coloro che si aspettano da loro una sana dose di violenza e rabbia in pieno stile hard-core. Il disco si apre con "Defeatist", canzone e singolo dell’album, che sembra una delle più riuscita e continua sulla stessa linea con canzoni come "Horrors of self" e "To the Treshold". Riff assassini e rabbia urlata senza tanti fronzoli o finezze, questa è la formula che rimane costante per ogni disco degli Hatebreed. Impanca bili poi le canzoni come "Destroy Everything" che con un ritornello immediato e orecchiabile risulta fatta apposta per la dimension live, dove tra l’altro il gruppo è davvero notevole, da cantare a squarciagola insieme al pubblico. Insomma gli Hatebreed non cambiano di una virgola la loro proposta e probabilmente da un gruppo come questo, il cui obbiettivo non è certo dare un’innovazione ad ogni pubblicazione discografica ma rimanere fedeli alla propria lina, è giusto che sia così. Dopo le partecipazioni ai vari Ozzfest, i tour con gente come Slayer e la conduzione da parte del frontman James Jasta del programma Headbangers Ball su MTV2; hanno raggiunto una bella dose di notorietà guadagnata con fatica.
Il disco non è particolarmente entusiasmante, soprattutto rispetto ai predecessori, ma se “bazzicate” nel genere è giusto supportare questa band che mette tanta passione in quello che fa e che non delude mai.

Gli Hatebreed hanno come migliore arma una carica che in periodo in cui metalcore significa soltanto vocette melodiche e doppia cassa in ogni occasione è davvero oro.
Notevoli in questo album sono: i riff, che differentemente da altri gruppi hardcore presentano ritmiche più complesse e vicine al thrash metal.
