Li ho scoperti per caso un giorno in internet e quella canzone ("Just Barely Breathing") mi è piaciuta così tanto che sono andato a comprare il cd a scatola chiusa (vi ricordate che bello era comprare gli album a scatola chiusa?).
Trash-death metal melodico (ma non solo) mescolato con l'hardcore americano in maniera sopraffina. Non c'è tregua alcuna nelle canzoni se non nel cameo chitarristico "Without a Name" subito seguita però da "Rise Inside" vero e proprio marchio del suono Killswitch Engage. Riff pesantissimi e velocissimi sorretti dallo screaming abrasivo del cantante Jesse Leach che si trova completamente a suo agio anche nelle parti più tranquille. Ah, un'altra curiosità non da poco dell'album: vista la dipartita del batterista tutte le parti di batteria sono state registrate dal chitarrista Adam Dutkiewicz mente pensante del gruppo. C'è modo di sentire anche il suono della band agli inizi ("Vide Infra" e "To The Sons Of Man" sono state ripescate e rielaborate dall'omonimo disco d'esordio) quando la furia del gruppo era ancora pura e molto meno contaminata da stacchi melodici.
E mi raccomando non scambiateli per un gruppo nu-metal perchè non hanno niente a che vedere... chiamateli come volete death... trash metalcore... la sostanza non cambia: questo è un grande album intriso di rabbia e ferocia ma allo stesso tempo tristezza e rassegnazione... ha due facce... e mi piacciono in modo incredibile entrambe.
Da ascoltare tutto d'un fiato in camera col volume a 3/4!!!!
P.S: E' uscito da poco l'album nuovo e recensirò spero anche quello: è già nel mio giradischi chiaramente...

Il disco in questione fu un vero e proprio fulmine a ciel sereno per l’allora stagnante panorama Rock/Metal.
Ciò che indiscutibilmente mancherà alla formazione dopo la pubblicazione di questo album è forse la cosa più importante: l’anima.
