A 4 anni di distanza dal magnifico "Enemy Of God" ritornano i thrashers teutonici Kreator, a mio personale avviso la miglior thrash band europea, con un nuovo lavoro intitolato "Hordes Of Chaos", se la copertina puo' tradire qualche similitudine col disco precedente, basta ascoltare le prime note della titletrack, posta significativamente in apertura, per accorgersi che qualcosa è cambiato. In primis la produzione che potremmo definire molto "old school" rispetto a quella che caratterizzava gli album immediatamente precedenti, infatti la registrazione è avvenuta totalmente in analogico e, tranne per le voals, in presa diretta!!!!!! Questo contribuisce moltissimo all'impatto e all'aggressività delle composizioni.
Detto questo passiamo ad analizzare il contenuto musicale dell'album, come gia accennato si parte con la titletrack, un brando che inizia in maniera molto tranquilla salvo poi sfociare in un brano al fulmicotone con un Mille Petrozza che coadiuvato dai suoi fidi compari, e in particolare dal drummer Ventor, sembra volerci riportare indietro di 20 anni ai bei tempi di "Extreme Aggression" e "Coma Of Souls". Se poi aggiungiamo una parte solistica che sembra venire direttamente dalle mitiche twin guitars ottantiane dei vari Iron Maiden, Judas Priest e Accept il gioco e' fatto. Dicevamo di Ventor, ed è proprio il drummer a rendersi protagonista di brani come "Warcurse" o "Radical Resistance", macigni thrash che sembrano provenire da "Pleasure to Kill". Sulla stessa scia (altamente tossica) si pongono le devastanti "Escalation" o "Absolue Misantropy". Ma qualora ci dovesse venire in mente che che questo sia un album monolitico, ci pensano le varie "Amok Run", "To The Afterburn"o la conclusiva "Demon Prince" a farci cambiare idea, andando a ripescare nelle sonorita' "sperimentali" che caratterizzarono il percorso stilistico dei Kreator in albums come "Outcast" o il bistrattato "Endorama".
Insomma se non si fosse ancora capito ci troviamo di fronte al miglior album dei Kreator dai tempi di "Reneval", in questo album funge da summa ideale del percorso stilistico che caratterizza i nostri da un quarto di secolo a questa parte. Sarà veramente difficile per Mille Petrozza e soci scegliere quali pezzi lasciare fuori dalle future scalette live, in quanto tutti questi brani sono delle potenziali killer live songs, si prevedono sfracelli ai prossimi show dei Kreator.
Si dice che il buon giorno si vede da mattino, se questo è il mattino allora questo 2009 non poteva iniziare in maniera migliore!!!!
