Premessa:
Divento una belva quando sento qualcuno dire che Lenny Kravitz è soltanto un prodotto commerciale, costruito nel solo intento di vendere e nel far soldi, poi mi metto a ridere perchè mi accorgo che chi dice cose del genere non sa niente dell'artista in questione, non sa che come tutti gli artisti emergenti all'inizio andava in giro a far sentire la sua musica con la sua chitarrina acustica, e che non aveva niente, e che il successo che ha avuto se l'è soltanto meritato, si è vero che ora la sua musica da "5" in poi non è più la stessa, ma non credo che si sia venduto, ritengo invece che un uomo di 40 anni si sia stancato di sprecare la sua vita con la stupida regola da rockstar... sesso droga and rock and roll, ma che preferisca vivere la sua vita in funzione della figlia e dell'amore, con questo vuol dire che si è venduto? O che è diventato un rammollito? No, credo che sia solo un uomo più saggio e consapevole... magari (e lo credo anch'io) la sua musica non è la stessa, ed è più commerciale ma credo che sia un'intento più umano che materiale...
Dopo tutto questo però voglio parlarvi di un album del '95 di Lenny... cioè Circus, il lavoro precedente al discusso "5", è un disco intrigante e sconosciuto alla massa, sempre nell'ombra di un rock ostico e acido, dove Lenny mostra tutta la sporcizia del vivere da super star, l'esempio più rappresentante del intero lavoro è la tittle track, canzone che si arranca su un riff ripetitivo e decadente, fino a toglierti ogni emozione positiva, e alla fine sei d'accordo con lui... questo mondo fa schifo!!!
"Rock And Roll Is Dead", è una canzone rock a 360°, che ruota sul solito stile di Lenny degli album precedenti, "Tunnel Vision" potete immaginare da soli di cosa parla... ed ad un certo punto canta..."I don't need a doctor/to teel me what to do/'cause I know I'm going"...così ci fa partecipi della sua prima malattia... cioè la droga! E poi ci dice qual'è la seconda ancora più devastante... l'amore...
E così su questi termini scorre tutto l'album, descrivendo un uomo esaurito dal successo e dalla fama, ma che grazie a questa ricaduta sforna un album bellissimo come questo, ispirato e vissuto, e dimostra a tutti la sua unica vera speranza e fede che è Dio... in "God Is Love"...canzone tipica da "tagliarsi le vene" ma che fa vibrare l'anima...
Stanco e malato dopo questo lavoro Lenny non sarà più lo stesso... forse a questo è servito Circus... a svuotarlo di tutte le sue paure ed ansie.
Con questo chiudo il capitolo sul mio artista maschile preferito, e sul suo album che preferisco, grazie e se non vi è piaciuta questa recensione Amen...dovevo farla per me!!!
