Clap! Clap! Clap!... Bravissimo Luca, o sono i Rhapsody??? Vabbè ma tanto che cambia??? I Rhapsody sono Luca Turilli e su questo nessuno può replicare ed è proprio per questo motivo che mi domando "ma fondamentalmente perchè Turilli ha tirato fuori l'ennesimo lavoro solista uguale a quelli della band madre???"... la risposta è semplicissima, cosa??? Vi state chiedendo quale sia??? Ma logico, per fare altri soldini, neanche gli mancassero. "King Of The Nordic Twilight" è l'ennesima conferma dell' autocompiacimento che pervade l'animo di quest'uomo, che oltre ad aver composto un disco con 3 canzoni decenti su 8, è fondamentalmente composto da:
1. copertina dall'orrido sapore fantasy (fra l'altro senza un minimo di originalità) e tutte quelle classiche componenti rhapsodiane che gli hanno donato fama e soldi, quindi l'intro tenebrosa in latino, questa volta dal titolo "To Magic Horizons" (Dio benedetto, ma che fantasia che ha 'sto tizio), alla quale segue una song sparatissima "Black Dragon", che per quanto sentita e risentita non è poi tanto sgradevole, presentandoci una base musicale basata tutta sulla chitarra (ma va... e io che pensavo che fosse basata su strumenti tipo non so... il basso), tappeti di doppia cassa a non finire e una voce (almeno questa è bella) altissima e pulita. Il ritornello è abbastanza abusato ma decente, con i cori in sottofondo ed il bravo Olaf (il cantante) che arriva a prendere note difficilissime. Si passa così a "Legend Of Steel", che si muove sulle stesse identiche coordinate dell'altra, alla quale aggiunge un intro in simil-clavicembalo seguito poi da tutti gli strumenti, la splendida voce del cantante ed i cori iper tamarri. La scontatezza di questa song è qualcosa di veramente unico, complimentoni Luca!!!! A seguire troviamo "Lord Of The Winter Snow" (ma va... la neve di inverno... ma a Trieste nevica il 20 Agosto??? Facci un pò capire furbacchione), che comincia con una voce simil-operistica femminile seguita da una tremenda base musicale che attirerà il vostro dito verso il pulsante per mandare avanti le song e sarà proprio "il tasto della salvezza dalla precedente schifezza" che vi condurrà ad una coppia di canzoni quanto meno decenti, sto parlando di "Princess Aurora" e di "The Ancient Forest Of Elves): la prima si presenta come ballad abbastanza ascoltabile grazie ad un'aggraziata voce femminile, accompagnata quasi esclusivamente da un bellissimo piano, al quale si aggiungono gli altri strumenti nel ritornello. "The Ancient Forest Of Elves" (l'anziana foresta degli elfi... oh gesù ma che cagata di titolo è??) è la traccia migliore dell' album, caratterizzata da un forte sapore medioevali dovuto alla presenza di violini e flauti, che rendono la canzone un minimo particolare. "Throne Of Ice" è un itramezzo quasi discreto ma abbastanza inutile a dirla tutta, dal momento che è quasi uguale all'intro in quanto a tipologia di canzone. Segue "Where Heroes Lie" classico pezzo di power metal trito e ritrito. Ed ora eccolo... il vero regalone di Lucone!!! Una sfiancante suite da 11 (dico 11) faticosissimi minuti, che non solo è spropositatamente lunga ma è altresì orrida.
In definitiva questo disco sarebbe da liquidare con un bel "Che Schifo!!" ma non lo farò perchè ha comunque dei lati positivi (a ben pensarci sono solo due) che sono la voce del bravo Olaf e la produzione iper curata come nella migliore tradizione Turilli/Rhapsody, per il resto nulla ma proprio nulla di nuovo ed in oltre ti prego Luca, dal più profondo del mio cuore, la prossima volta scrivi testi (e anche titoli se ci riesci... ma solo se ci riesci, non sforzarti troppo) un minimo sensati e se proprio vuoi produrre canzoni fantasy fallo almeno con un minimo di criterio. Per il momento il giudizio sulla carriera solistica di questo simpatico metallaro italiano è completamente INSUFFICIENTE.
