Sono passati quattro anni ma ricordo tutto come fosse ieri sera!
Riviste, televisioni, internet, tutto il mondo dei media a polemizzare sul video anti Bush di Madonna. Il video era quello di "American Life" e mostrava una Madonna in stile militare che si divertiva a predicare contro la guerra, ballare in mezzo alle soldatesse e infine lanciare un accendino a forma di bomba a George Bush, mammamia che scandalo! (ma quale scandalo!!), quando penso al marchio "Madonna" più che la parola "arte" mi viene in mente la parola "Genio del Marketing", la nostra Ciccone non ha mai avuto grandi doti artistiche, mediocre cantante e buona ballerina ma niente più! La genialità di questa donna di spettacolo è stata quella di circondarsi di geni dello show business e anticipare sempre tutto e tutti, lanciando mode, tormentoni, manie... Madonna si mette gli orecchini a croce? Domani tutti con gli orecchini a croce! Si veste da monaca buddista? Domani tutte vestite da monaca! È una fottuta lanciatrice di mode e fenomeni di costumi! In questo aspetto bisogna assolutamente riconoscergli il merito! Ma... a livello artistico... be... la cosa è alquanto diversa:
"American Life" ha tutti quei difetti che hanno segnato la terza fase della carriera della pop star. Musicisti sbagliati, musica elettronica, e voce distorta al vocoder! Cose che io adoro ma... che non fanno parte del mondo di Madonna! Ovvero... l'elemento elettronico in un suo brano non mi dispiace... ma se la cosa si fa esagerata inizia ad infastidire! American Life fece parlare di se per l'eccessivo uso di elettronica, l'album che attualmente esiste in commercio è una versione ri-registrata! La prima versione in studio faceva talmente uso di effetti sonori distorti al computer che l'album era praticamente inascoltabile!! Così la buona Ciccone dovette ri-registrare l'album... il risultato attuale è che il prodotto continua ancora a stonare per l'uso elettronico leggermente fuori luogo. Fastidiose infatti sono canzoni come "Nobody Knows Me", "I'm So Stupid", la voce robotica di Madonna alla lunga fa scendere il latte alle ginocchia! L'unica bella canzone elettronica che è riuscita ad entusiasmarmi è stata "Mother And Father" in cui grazie al computer la nostra Madonna ha sfornato nuovamente la sua vocina da ragazzina alla "Like a Virgin" , belle le sonorità minimali stile suoni del Nintendo a 8 bit, niente male il testo e la parte sonora finale è davvero ben fatta.
11 tracce che cercano di farsi piacere alla nuova generazione, alcune belle all'inizio ma che hanno perso smalto con il tempo(sono canzoni destinate a non rimanere), vorrei comunque aprire una parentesi su due episodi veramente ben riusciti, la stupenda "Nothing Fails" che, senza esagerare, rappresenta forse uno dei momenti musicali più belli dell'intera carriera di Madonna! Con quelle sue sonorità Country Pop, quella sua chitarra leggera, la bella voce della cantante, per una volta non modificata al computer, la splendida parte corale d'intermezzo e il gran finale, vorrei proprio dirlo... "Nothing Fails" è un capolavoro del pop! L'unico dell'album degno del nome di Madonna. Ecco... io penso che Madonna dovrebbe dedicarsi a brani più strumentali e melodici come questo, che si... contiene elementi di elettronica ma fusi in maniera omogenea con la parte strumentale suonata, veramente il top. Anche la bellissima "Easy Ride" mi ha particolarmente coinvolto per la sua fusione di suoni... anche qui assistiamo ad un inizio suonato e ad un finale puramente elettronico... questa è la Ciccone che preferisco. Degna di nota è anche "Intervention", rilassante e ben cantata. Tre canzoni ben fatte e qualche ritmo ballabile trascinante ("Hollywood") non bastano però a far guadagnare un voto alto a questo disco.
American Life è un album troppo meccanico e freddo! Madonna vive nell'olimpo del pop da regina ma... per motivi artistici non potrà mai indossare la corona di geni come Prince e Michael Jackson (e qui ora si accenderà una nuova polemica tra i fans della Ciccone, di Jackson e di Prince? Dai ragazzi... spero di no!)
Purtroppo questo disco è stato già dimenticato! Ma se le canzoni vengono dimenticate... non viene dimenticata l'interprete che... anche a 75 anni continuerà a sfornare dischi e video commerciali di successo (tranne forse questo che ha venduto SOLO quattro milioni di copie! SOLO!)! Madonna è una macchina da Business che non si fermerà mai! L'unica che sotto questo aspetto... batte tutti!!!!!

Madonna è bella per quello... perché non è perfetta e perché si mette spesso e volentieri in discussione.
Musicalmente nessuna canzone riesce a colpire particolarmente (a parte Xstatic Process) tutte lasciano un po’ l’amaro in bocca.

Ho scritto bellissimo perché non avrei trovato altro modo per descriverlo.
Le canzoni hanno significati molto profondi, esprimono le idee e gli ideali della cantante.
