Louder Than Hell è nella discografia dei Manowar l'episodio meno epico e più stradaiolo: rispetto al maccheronico e indigesto (per me) The Triumph Of Steel segna un netto passo avanti, anche se i Nostri possono fare molto ma molto meglio. Fatto sta che l'arrivo di Karl Logan e il ritorno di Scott Columbus sono una vera e propria mano santa, e l'album inizia alla grandissima con il trio Return Of The Warlord-Brothers Of Metal-The Gods Made Heavy Metal (indovinate un po' di cosa parlano!?) Tre canzoni stupende, orecchiabilissime e da puro headbenging che ricatapultano i Manowar ai tempi dorati di Wheels Of Fire e Kings Of Metal. Courage invece è sicuramente la ballata più umana, emozionante e intensa mai scritta da Joey DeMaio, un pezzo che non può proprio non piacere. E fin qui l'album sarebbe un capolavoro assoluto, ma, ahime, i tempi della totale rinascita non sono ancora arrivati. Il disco prosegue con Number 1 e Outlaw, due pezzi belli e aggressivi ma non all'altezza dei primi 3, seguiti da King: il tentativo di scrivere una nuova Hail And Kill fallisce miseramente soprattutto per quel ritornello che più che da una legione di guerrieri sembra essere cantato da degli ubiachi all'oktoberfest. Il peggio però deve ancora venire: Today Is A Good Day to Die è uno strumentale di quasi 10 minuti che dovrebbero essere epici e intensi e che invece risultano solo pallosi e ripetitivi, segue a ruota un inutile assolo di basso (My Spirit Lives On). Il dischetto di chiude con The Power, canzone appena sufficiente arricchita dal bell'acuto di Eric Adams sul ritornello.
In concusione solo le prime 4 tracks valgono l'acquisto del disco, ma i veri Manowar sono da cercare altrove.
