''Panzer Division Marduk''..cosa aspettarsi da questo titolo? Le melodie melanconiche degli Empyrium? I virtuosismi chitarristici di Steve Vai? Niente di tutto questo. Bisogna soltanto aspettarsi un po' di sano Black Metal made in Marduk!!! Inizio gia con una premessa importante. Se ascolto Black Metal è perchè anni ed anni fa ascoltai ''Christraping Black Metal'' e dopo un paio di ascolti me ne innamorai. Di conseguenza sarò sicuramente di parte nel recensire l'album in questione (pensando anche che i Marduk sono da sempre uno dei miei gruppi preferiti...direi che il quadro è completo)
Ma chi sono i Marduk e cosa suonano? Non è difficile capirlo. Cosa sono? Un gruppo proveniente dalla Svezia, dalla patria del Black Metal più veloce e più battagliero (Dark Funeral!), quello che lascia meno spazio alle emozioni vagamente depressive e si concentra più su una sorta di martellamento continuo. Un granitico muro sonoro fatto di doppia cassa continua, di riff veloci e taglienti e di urla disumane, e chi meglio di loro possiede queste caratteristiche? Chi sono? O meglio, chi erano quando questo cd fu rilasciato? Erano 4 demoni: Morgan Hakansson, Legion, B.War, Fredrik Andersson, rispettivamente chitarrista, cantante, bassista, batterista.
Una formazione sicuramente rispettabile, con un particolare interesse nei confronti di B.War (almeno personalmente), in quanto è a mio avviso uno dei migliori bassisti della scena Black. Magari poco valorizzato in questo album, in quanto il suono dello stesso è molto corposo e quindi non è abbastanza focalizzato sul suo basso, ma basta ascoltarlo nelle vecchie produzioni, Opus Nocturne, Those Of The Unlight, insomma un grande musicista. Stessa cosa si può dire anche degli altri tre. Morgan da sempre leader maximo della band è per me un grande compositore (per chi lo taccia di ripetività compositiva direi che dovrebbe ascoltarsi gli ultimi album della band), Andersson una macchina da guerra (forse anche più del suo successore Dragutinovic) e Legion resta Legion. Marchio di fabbrica del gruppo per anni, ha dato la voce ad una creatura pronta a valorizzarla con i suoi ritmi blasfemi e serrati!
Ma passiamo all'analisi dell'album vero e proprio.
Il primo pezzo non può che essere ''Panzer Division Marduk''. Vi dico gia che le prime tre tracce secondo me sono le migliori del lotto, e come non aspettarselo con una partenza simile? Doppia cassa a manetta, riff velocissimi, urla e distruzione totale. Sembra davvero che un Panzer stia distruggendo tutto ciò che ci circonda. Una vera mazzata in pieno volto, non ci sono parole. Diretta ed 'in your face'. Si continua con la blasfemissima ''Baptism By Fire'' . Un altro pezzo micidiale che non ha intenzione di terminare il massacro cominciato con la prima traccia, bensì lo indurisce ancora di più. Gli ingredienti sono sempre gli stessi ma sono mescolati talmente bene che nessuno potrebbe lamentarsi di questi pezzi cosi simili ma cosi differenti. Ad aggiungere ancora più phatos ci sono dei suoni di bombardamenti e di Stuka che volano su un cielo ormai gia ricoperto dal fuoco più totale. Conclusione pazzesca con le 3 semplici parole, "Baptism By Fire"!! ''Christraping Black Metal''...quanti ricordi...quante emozioni....quante bestemmie!!! Io non so cosa abbia fatto il povero Dio di turno per meritarsi tante cattiverie. Ma davvero. "Christraping Black Metal" è un pezzo davvero blasfemo, davvero devastante. un continuo di attacchi gratuiti verso Dio, Suo Figlio e chi più ne ha più ne metta. Ma a noi va bene cosi. Questi sono i Marduk e questo è il loro capolavoro!!! Devastante l'inizio, capolavoro assoluto il pezzo!!! Legion sempre brutale nei suoi screaming e Andersson sempre più incredibilmente veloce e preciso. Una macchina da guerra questi sono o meglio erano i Marduk!!! A questo delirio sonoro seguono ''Scorched Earth'' ''Beast Of Pray'' e ''Bloddown'' che sono meno piacevoli almeno per quanto mi rugarda. Ma niente paura perchè ''502'' e ''Fistfucking God's Planet'' regalano una degna conclusione, anzi una stupenda conclusione ad un album che è gia di per se stupendo. Insomma una carneficina dall'inizio alla fine, ma questi sono i Marduk. Prendere o lasciare. Io prendo e continuo a prendere perchè per me i Marduk restano sempre i Marduk!!!
