A parte gli addetti ai lavori Mink DeVille (Villy Deville) è un artista poco noto, eppure è un grande autore. Un artista capace di coniugare il Rock più genuino col folk, dando vita a composizioni deliziose e originali.
Uno dei maestri nell'arte della composizione, ascoltate "Spanish Stroll", "Cadillac Walk", "Mazurka", "This Must Be The Night" e facilmente sarete anche voi del mio parere. Non l'ho mai trovato in nessuna classifica, da Scaruffi a il Cibicida che gli preferiscono i Black Sabbath, Beck, Queen, Radiohead, Bian Eno o Peter Gabriel, che sono a mio parere tra gli artisti più sopravvalutati degli ultimi 30 anni. Va bè che i gusti non si discutono ma per gli autori di queste classifiche pare che il Rock sia nato una ventina di anni fa, dei padri fondatori, Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke, il grande Willie Dixon, Otis Redding, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Hawkins, Eddie Cochran, (Il primo Punk) neanche l'ombra.
Se si vuole avere il termometro della bravura di un musicista il modo migliore è ascoltarlo dal vivo, quindi torno a DeVille aggiungendo solo che il suo concerto è un vero bocconcino. Ne ho viste esibizioni dal vivo, la sua è tra le migliori.
