I Motorhead, capitanati come sempre dal grandissimo Lemmy, nel 1995 fecero uscire un disco molto bello e interessante, ovvero "Sacrifice". L'album presenta un sound piuttosto cupo, oscuro, sfrenato e abbastanza coinvolgente, soprattutto nei momenti migliori del cd, come la bellissima titletrack, "Over Your Shoulder", "War For War" e "Sex And Death".
La formazione e' composta da Lemmy la basso e alla voce, i due chitarristi Wurzel e Campbell e il batterista Mikkey Dee. L'album nel complesso e' molto buono, contiene delle canzoni che sono riproposte ancora oggi nei live della band, la registrazione del sound è perfetta, mentre gli unici brani che sono meno interessanti sono "Make Em Blind" e il solito rock'n'roll banale di "Dont Waste Your Time". Il cd presenta come traccia d'apertura la favolosa titletrack che racchiude, nei suoi pesantissimi riff di chitarra e il dirompente lavoro di Dee dietro le pelli, lo stile heavy che i Motorhead hanno adottato nel disco. La voce di Lemmy e' fantastica e riesce a dare un tocco di brutalita' in piu' al brano, mentre un commento a parte lo merita Mikkey Dee che riesce a suonare degli assoli e delle ritmiche incredibili con la sua batteria. Si prosegue con il classico pezzo sfrenato e "so fuckin wild" di "Sex And Death", che con il suo fantastico ritornello mi fa' rivenire in mente brani come "Bomber" e "No Class", riuscendo a trasmettere delle emozioni incredibili.
"Over Your Shoulder" e' un'altro bellissimo brano con un sound piuttosto cupo e pesante, tipo i Black Label Society di Zakk Wylde, dove i chitarristi offrono dei bounissimi riff e Lemmy che continua a cantare in modo divino. La quarta traccia è "War For War" che presenta un ritmo piu' cadenzato ma nello stesso tempo molto interessante, che continua a mantenere il disco su livelli alti, mentre "Order / Fade To Black" e' dotata di un riff oscuro e pesante, (Black Sabbath), e molti cambiamenti di tempo, con ritmi lenti e pesanti e con improvvise sfuriate supportate dalla devastante doppiacassa di Mikkey. "Dog Face Boy" è un pezzo molto sostenuto e trascinante supportato da una bella prestazione della band, che si dimostra in buona salute. "All Gone To Hell" è una canzone ,che con i suo iritornelli e riff, poteva stare bene negli album successivi della band, tipo "Inferno", o "Hammered". L'ottava track "Make Em Blind" non i riesce a convincere piu' di tanto, come anche la successiva "Dont Waste Your Time", mentre la decima canzone, "Another Time", è un brano molto coinvolgente, grazie al suo bel riff iniziale e al suo favoloso ritornello, con Lemmy che dà il meglio di sè. L'ultima track, "Out Of The Sun", riporta delle sonorità quasi southern rock, dotata di un ritornello abbastanza catchy e una bella performance della band chiude in maniera incredibile quest'altro bellissimo album di Lemmy & Co.
