So cosa state pensando: l’inutilità estrema di questi mini cd per l’ascoltatore medio. Ma sapere che contiene “Bless the Child”, due eccezionali brani live e tutte le bonus track apparse nei singoli (tranne "Lagoon") prima di "Once" forse vi farà cambiare idea.
"Bless the Child" è il pezzo che tutti conosciamo, dall’atmosfera maestosa e regale e dalle ottime orchestrazioni. Uno dei punti più alti di Century Child.
I brani live sono “Come Cover Me “ e “Dead Boy’s Poem”, insieme a Wanderlust i pezzi migliori di Wishmaster, 2 pezzi che hanno le stesse meravigliose atmosfere anche dal vivo.
Le bonus track sono quasi tutte di buona fattura: altro che scarti!Anche se ascoltare l’uno dietro l’altro pezzi di epoche e stili così lontani e diversi fa sicuramente un certo effetto. “The Wayfafer” è un veloce pezzo di power sinfonico, “A Return To The Sea” è un bellissimo pezzo, molto atmosferico e fatato, “Sleepwalker” è un bel pezzo sognante e raffinato, partecipò all’Eurorock Festival del 2000 ma perse, “Nightquest” è un pezzo giocoso e molto heavy. L’unica nota stonata (è proprio il caso di dirlo) è data dal pezzo “Once Upon a Troubador”: basato solo su una chitarra acustica, molto folk, con un Tuomas giovanissimo (siamo ai tempi di Angels Fall First) stonato come non mai.
Se siete fan dei Nightwish compratelo a scatola chiusa (pezzi come "Sleepwalker", "Nightquest" e "A Return To The Sea" vi delizieranno). Per gli altri ascoltate prima.
