“Us” Come ogni essere vivente, Peter Gabriel attraversa un brutto periodo, molto nostalgico, compreso di psicoanalisi, per la separazione dalla moglie. Coglie i frutti amari e le sensazioni provate in quel lungo periodo, trasformando il tutto in “Us” e “Plus From Us” che, con musicisti etnici, influenzerà "Us". In "Us" troviamo cantanti come Sined O’ Connor, Ayub Ogada, Dmitrypkrovsky Ensemble, Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno, etc...
Questa è un’esperienza provata, della sua vita, si sente solo e cerca l’amore reciproco in “Love To Be Loved”, vuole l’unione stabile di una coppia in “Only Us”, descrive la sensualità e sesso, ora depresso in “Digging In The Dirt” e “Washing Of The Water”, la supplica di amore in “Come Talk To Me”, e alla sua coscienza profonda di “Secret World”. E' pieno di continuo ritmo, e techno, funky-soul sperimentale estremo, mai banale, e fondamentalmente perfetto come sempre. Esprime la sua paura temporanea e umana e la lotta per superare il tempo che in quel momento non sembra passare. Significativa è “Blood Of Eden” dove il sangue dell’anima che scorre nell’Eden tra uomini e donne che si uniscono per generare amore, nel lungo cammino del silenzio dove i suoni si avvicinano e danno la possibilità di continuare a vivere, e cantare; la vita è un dono straordinario e va ricercato; il sangue caldo del paradiso viaggia a una velocità superiore del pensiero negativo dell'uomo e dei ragionamenti freddi e affrettati della mente. E’ l’Eden, il richiamo da cercare; è il richiamo al desiderio umano dell’unione, della perfezione. "Us" è un album pieno d’ amore e dolore sia come forma umana, sia come forma estendibile in ogni sua sfaccettatura e problematica compresa nell’ universo intero.
