Ennesimo cd per gli italianissimi (pure nella pronuncia) Rhapsody di Fabio Lione.
Un album decisamente ascoltabile, con molti pezzi di indubbia qualità, ma che non si discosta poi molto (leggasi: per nulla) dagli ormai conosciuti e rimestati cliché del power-epic metal.
Passata la prima traccia, con l’introduzione fatta dall’attore di Saruman (mi sfugge il nome) per la cui voce Fabio e soci hanno una specie di ossessione, il disco si apre con Unholy Warcry, una delle song più valide del cd, cori e musica ottimi, purtroppo però la canzone non è niente di nuovo e così bisogna annoverarla tra “le belle canzoni epic”, mentre a mio dire avrebbe avuto le possibilità di essere qualcosa di più... Un'altra nota di demerito è la pronuncia inglese del buon Fabio, che se fosse un pelo migliore renderebbe il tutto più digeribile, ma, aihmé, questo è un difetto che i Rhapsody si portano dietro per tutto l'album. Segue "Never Forgotten Heroes", la mia preferita, con un tocco di originalità in più, un po' più epica e potente della precedente. Seguono le due melodiche "Elgard's Green Valleys" e "The Magic Of The Wizard's Dream", belle anche se pure qui vale lo stesso discorso di "Unholy". Passando per "Erian's Mhystical Rhymes" e "The Last Angel's Call" (sempre il solito discorso di cliché), si arriva all’altra melodica "Dragonland's Rivers", notevole ma mi pare sempre di ascoltare i Blind Guardian...
Dopo l’ennesima canzone stra-epica all’inverosimile ("Sacred Power Of Raging Winds") si giunge a quella che dovrebbe essere la perla dell’ album, ovvero "Guardiani Del Destino". Si nota subito che Fabio è decisamente più a suo agio cantando in italiano, si destreggia molto bene tra le parole della song e insieme ai cori Rhapsodiani fa di questa traccia un piccolo capolavoro tra song sì belle, ma davvero poco originali.
Stesso discorso delle prime tracce per le due canzoni che chiudono l’album, "Shadows Of Death" e "Nightfall On The Grey Mountains".
Un cd da avere, ma non un capolavoro. Capisco che in questo genere non è facile essere originali, riconosco che le canzoni sono davvero belle, e tecnicamente l’unica pecca è la pronuncia, ma davvero alla lunga ci si stanca un po' dei soliti pezzi blindguardiani che dopo che hai sentito "Nightfall In Middle Earth" gli altri gruppi sono tutti uguali… Concediamo ai Rhapsody di essere un gruppo davvero bravo e con grandi potenzialità, e speriamo che un giorno si discostino dalle diecimila band epic tutte uguali (dalle quali emergono solo per bravura tecnica) quando finalmente non dovremo più dire: "sono i Blind Guardian italiani" ma "hanno influenzato il genere COME i Blind Guardian".

È assolutamente impossibile non rimanere stregati dalla voce, così calda, avvolgente, melodiosa ed espressiva di Fabio Lione.
