Odore di napalm sonorizzato, tritolo prodotto da strumenti rock, piompo grindcore, proiettili death metal, sirene di guerra in growl vocals, cadaveri provenienti dai campi del Vietanm e dell'Afghanistan ed un non so che di apocalittico. Queste, in sintesi, le sensazioni e le visioni che un mitragliatore come "World Downfall" riesce a suscitare in chiunque sia in grado di maneggiarlo senza noiosi pregiudizi "politically correct".
Ma chi erano questi pazzi fuoriosi e, cosa più importante, per quale motivo erano tanto incazzati?
I musici-macellai che partorirono questo disco rispondono ai nomi di Oscar Garcia (voce), Jesse Pintado (chitarra), Dave Vincent (basso) e Pete Sandoval (batteria). Gli ultimi due fecero carriera nei ben più noti Morbid Angel, Jesse Pintado (R.I.P) trovò casa nei cugini Napalm Death mentre Garcia, dopo l'esperienza con i Terrorizer, continuò la sua attività con i Nausea.
I nostri erano degli autentici cavernicoli cresciuti a pane e Discharge senza, però, disdegnare il sound tipico delle ferali progenie thrash metal (Venom e Slayer per capirci). I ragazzi non amavano la società liberal-capitalista e non apprezzavano l'ideologia conservatrice che regnava sovrana nei reganiani anni '80. Avevano, come si suol dire, i loro buoni motivi per detestare il "sistema" nel quale vivevano ed avevano dalla loro gli strumenti più affascinanti per contestarlo.
Prendendo spunto dalle bands già citate e dalla lezione dei primi Napalm Death, i giovincelli impugnarono gli strumenti e si affidarono alle "cure" dell'allora giovanissimo Scott Burns, produttore talentuoso, del quale sarebbe opportuno ricordare i suoi futuri lavori con Deicide e Death.
Ma questo disco come suona? In maniera infernale!
Blast-beats polverizzanti, riffs assassini, growl vocals mannari, assenza di assoli e di tecnismi, un approccio hardcore ed un'insana propensione metallica sono le caratteristiche salienti di "World Downfall" e, in un certo senso, sono gli ingredienti che hanno reso famosi i Terrorizer in tutta la comunità grindcore.
Andate a sentirvi la bestiale "Corporation Pull In", la debordante "Storm of Stress" e l'annichilente "Enslaved To Propaganda"! Se sarete ancora vivi potrete convenire con me e, con il capo chino, non oserete più fare spallucce di fronte a bands "vecchie" o "fuori moda".
Questo disco lo farei sentire all'animaccia di Karl Popper, lo sparerei in cuffia a quel ciccione di Giuliano Ferrara e costringerei falsi anti-conformisti come Oliviero Toscani e Vittorio Sgarbi a sorbirselo dall'inizio alla fine. Il loro grazioso mondo di plastica, di fronte al tritolo sonoro ivi contenuto, salterà per aria!
