Ormai logori delle latitanze giapponesi di Lennon, dei guai finanziari della Apple, dei veleni sputati a iosa per renderli ormai incapaci di sopportarsi, i Beatles, lasciano su uno strano cerchio di vinile il loro commiato già abbondantemente annunciato qualche mese prima sulle strisce pedonali di "Abbey Road".
Strano perchè è difficile mettere insieme spezzoni di registrazione lasciati anonimamente a marcire sui mixer, è difficile immaginare che il più grande gruppo della storia abbia gettato la spugna per l'azzardato sorpasso dei limiti di pazienza di ognuno dei componenti.
Strano perchè è difficile pensare che nonostante tutto i Beatles si sono dissolti in una fredda nuvola inglese ringraziando gli ascoltatori dell'affetto e della partecipazione con la polizia alle calcagna e un tetto da sgomberare per disturbo della quiete pubblica.
Ma come si fa a cacciare via i Beatles, come si possono dimenticare con un album pubblicato dopo il loro scioglimento, mentre i diretti interessati avevano già intrapreso la carriera solistica, anni e anni di successi, sperimentazioni, innovazioni, copertine, capolavori, caschetti, stivali, urla isteriche, pianti, pubblicità, allucinogeni, fiori colorati, velenosissime incursioni estemporanee dal Sol Levante...
La coscienza, dopo aver ascoltato "Let it be" e poco altro mi dice, anche se non l'ho mai voluto accettare: "Lascia che sia". Grazie a Dio dopo quarant'anni e più posso dire che è stato meglio così (e si vede). Beatles Immortali!
