Poco tempo fa ho scoperto di non essere a conoscenza di 'Gish', il primo lavoro di Billy Corgan e soci... quindi contrariato x la mia ignoranza ma allo stesso tempo curioso, col programma del ciuco ragliante ho provveduto al download.
Si parte con "I AM ONE", intro spettacolare con basso e chitarre allo stremo che promette un cd folle; "SIVA", francamente anche dopo molti ascolti non mi dice molto, tranne che x il finale dirompente; "RHINOCEROS", una tra le migliori degli SP secondo me, ipnotizzante e col ritornello che ti rimane appiccicato in testa; "BURY ME", caruccia con le chitarre che sembrano invocare pietà; "CRUSH", canzone tranquilla che fa spaziare la voce di Corgan, ma null'altro; "SUFFER"... noiosetta e insipida...; "SNAIL" parte calma e progredisce sempre di più con bell'assolo e riff di batteria finale; di "TRISTESSA" mi piacciono gli acuti di Billy; "WINDOW PAINE" si divide in 2 parti: la prima alquanto calma, la seconda più esagitata con bella batteria; "DAYDREAM" è un breve canto angelico (cantata da non so chi purtroppo) che fa accapponare la pelle; ultima una simpatica ghost-track cantata da Corgan...
In sintesi, davvero un buon debutto... considerato che 'Gish' ha cominciato ad avere successo, insieme a 'SIAMESE DREAM', solo dopo l'uscita di 'Mellon Collie', è stata una bella scoperta sentirlo, tranne per 1-2 canzoni che mi sanno un pò d'insipide, e "I AM ONE" mi preannunciava un cd un pò più cattivo... ma fa nulla, come esordio x la più grande band di Chicago ci può anche stare.
Quindi 3 stelle e nella mia graduatoria personale, al 3° posto dopo 'Siamese Dream' e 'Mellon Collie'.
