Il reuccio è tornato, più solare che mai in questo suo settimo album. Basta ascoltare il singolo “Anti-Matter”, degno degli ultimi Morcheeba, per rendersi conto di essere purtroppo anni luce dalle sonorità oscure, decadenti (e irraggiungibili) degli esordi.
Eppure Tricky riesce a metterci del suo anche nelle mutazioni pop e non si può dargli torto quando dichiara “potrei non essere l’artista migliore del mondo, ma sono l’unico ad avere un suono completamente personale”. Forse non l’unico, ma sicuramente c’è del vero nelle sue parole: anche in Vulnerable il ritmo è spesso aritmia, incalzante e affilato, pulsante ed elettrico, mai anonimo. Alla Tricky, insomma.
Merito anche della reginetta di turno, l’italianissima Costanza Francavilla, che con la sua ugola da lolita ricorda da vicino la sensualissima voce di Martina in Pre-Millenium Tension. Affascinanti i suoi sussurri in “Dear God” e il suo duettare con i rantolii di Tricky in “Stay” o nella cover di “Lovecats” dei Cure. Sicuramente la sorpresa più bella è lei.
Per il resto un album più solare ed orecchiabile (per non dire a tratti commerciale) dei precedenti. Basterebbe questo per farlo volare dalla finestra. Se non fosse Tricky. Infatti è ancora lì che gira.
