AVVISO AL DE-LETTORE: QUESTA RECENSIONE E' MOLTO SOGGETTIVA, NON ME NE VOGLIATE
Chi di voi alla vista di questo disco ha pensato: "Ecco l'ennesimo gruppo metalcore americano"???
Su le mani avanti… li vedo già eccone uno, due, tre, quattro…
Ma io no, io non ci sto. Questo disco è potenza, tecnica ma soprattutto è metal!! Questi 5 ragazzi hanno saputo, in un momento di piattume del mondo metal, dove ultimamente si sente poco di davvero nuovo e rivoluzionario, tirar fuori un album con i controfiocchi per non dire c***i. Certo certo roba già sentita: matrice Thrash spunti Heavy e accenni Death. Niente di nuovo ed oltraggioso, ma lì non tocca ai nostri fare la differenza.
Partendo dalla prima canzone si capisce subito quanto gli anni '80 abbiano inciso un carattere dominante prettamente metallico e "true" in questi ragazzi, This Glorious Nightmare ha si un bel breakdown mosh che tanto sta a cuore alle nuove generazioni, ma presenta la struttura tipica di una canzone dei testament, il riffing ricercato che da un pò a qui si è perso e un drumming di tutti rispetto.
E così sia per le altre canzoni dell'album, notevolmente degne di nota: Sanctity of Brothers, Unstoppable, Bled Dry e Giles. Spunti melodici e sfuriate pesanti e veloci si alternano in un intreccio mai banale e scontato. La produzione rende questo disco qualcosa di raro se non unico per un gruppo "nuovo" (lo scrivo tra virgolette perchè questi ragazzi sono in giro da più o meno 8 anni): naturale, un pò sporca se vogliamo… ma dal vivo questi suoneranno come su disco ed è importante.
Questa recensione esalta molto quanto prodotto dagli Unearth, forse troppo… ma a me piacciono un casino e mi sono divertito troppo a scriverla.
