1987 lavoro che fa seguito al debut album "Fight To Survive", che impressionò molto la critica del settore e suscitò l'interesse della casa discografica Atlantic al punto da mettere sotto contratto la band in questione.
La band composta da quattro elementi (tre dei quali di chiara origine italiana), i White Lion sono guidati dal tandem Vito Bratta (chitarre) e Mike Tramp (voce), al quale sono da attribuire la stesura dei testi e delle musiche. Gli altri sono James Lomenzo (basso, oggi con i Megadeth) e Greg D' Angelo (batteria, ex Anthrax).
"Pride" ebbe un grande successo a livello mondiale, specialmente negli Stati Uniti, proprio in virtù di un sound tipicamente americano, fatto di buon ritmo, chitarre molto graffianti e cori facilmente memorizzabili. L'album mette in risalto l'ottimo lavoro compositivo di Vito Bratta (purtroppo da tempo ritirato dalle scene musicali ), con ricami e tecnica di pregievole fattura, una perfetta rielaborazione dello stile Van Haleniano.
Spesso un gruppo lo si riconosce per una particolarità che può essere la voce del cantante, il modo di suonare, lo stile di Vito è unico e lo si riconoscerebbe tra mille ed è un vero dispiacere poterlo ascoltare solo nei quattro lavori che i White Lion hanno lasciato ai posteri ("Fight To Survive" - "Pride" - "Big Game" - "Mane Attraction").
La particolarità di "Pride" è il continuo intreccio tra arpeggi melodici, accompagnamenti acustici, con fraseggi e distorsioni tipiche dell' heavy. Tutti i pezzi dell'album potrebbero essere potenziali hit singles, "Hungry", "Lonely Nights", la stupenda "Lady Of The Valley" costruita su riff tipicamente heavy metal. Senza dimenticare la romantica "Wait" e la ballad acustica "When The Children Cry".
Consigliato a chi ama la coniugazione tra melodie e chitarre rock. Un gran bel disco per l'epoca. Per nostalgici.
