Gli Anathema non suonano più metal.
Cosa sarà mai successo nelle teste dei componenti del gruppo di Liverpool? Cosa li avrà spinti a cambiare gran parte delle loro sonorità stroncando in maniera così palese con il loro passato?
Sicuramente nel loro ego qualcosa è cambiato.
Nulla qui è mai banale perché niente è lasciato al caso, tutto sfiora la perfezione. Basta ascoltare la prima traccia e si resta ipnotizzati per 50 minuti circa. Non è solo musica gradevole che scorre, ma anche Grande musica che imprigiona e ti segna, perché non si può restare indifferenti davanti ad un cd così ben fatto dove il tutto viene fuso divinamente.

Il rock-pscichedelico ha un altro nuovo volto. Un volto macchiato di elettronica, malinconia, rabbia e rassegnazione, ma anche tanta bella melodia composta da schemi indipendenti. Ogni canzone è una storia a sé che va a comporre uno strepitoso mosaico curato in ogni minimo particolare. Con “Are you There” mi si riempie il cuore e mi si ammorbidisce, ”Closer” mi fa impazzire, ”Flying” ha un ritmo da antologia della compostezza e della soavità… Potrei spendere milioni di parole per svelarvi tutti i segreti di “A Natural Disaster” ma per adesso non aggiungo altro e lascio che siano Loro a rivelarvi ogni caratteristica di questo gioiellino.

Il sound dei nostri dice definitivamente addio alle influenze dei primi dischi.
A Natural Disaster è infatti un ottimo lavoro, ottimamente strutturato e ricco di tracce atmosferiche ed intense.
