Album alquanto tosto quest'ultimo lavoro sorto dalle ceneri di Rage Against The Machine e Soundgarden (vabbè "solo" il suo frontman). Se non nel modo di far musica l'album è tosto da valutare come tutti gli album Audioslave, in quanto i RATM fans sono impietosi e scettici, incuranti di una svolta intrapresa in direzioni molto diverse dal passato. Di sicuro non si tratta di quelle grandi cose che sono state costruite dai vari membri con i loro relativi ex-gruppi, ma qualcosa di bello si trova.
Sono contento di comunicare che la delicatezza (lentezza e per alcuni inutile mielosità e banale commercialità) dell'ultimo album è stata messa in secondo piano. Al primo posto si trova infatti la carica e l'immediatezza dei pezzi che finalmente possiedono una struttura non clonata di brano in brano e che si discosta molto dai due precedenti lavori. Decisamente più indirizzato verso le sonorità del primo album che del secondo, ma con una personalità più decisa e una piega meno rageagainstiana. Ci si può infatti imbattere in brani molto soundgardeniani e rock con sprazzi di grunge in brani come "Wide Awake" o la ballata "Nothing Left To Say But Goodbye". Poi ci sono brani prettamente rock e vitali come "Original Fire" o "One And The Same". Bella anche l'opener "Revelations" che secondo me da l'input giusto e indirizza l'ascoltatore all'evoluzione (o passo indietro... che non guasta) del cd e la conclusiva "Moth". Il brano "Somedays" è di sicuro quello più banale e prevedibile dell'intero album anche se con un bel testo e assieme a "Sound Of A Gun" (mi ricorda troppo da vicino una canzone del primo loro lavoro...) rappresentano le note dolenti di questo terzo album.
Per chi era scettico o non riusciva a sopportare questa band di grandi artisti da cui forse ci si poteva aspettare di più nei precedenti lavori, qui riesciranno a dare la loro giusta interpretazione.

Dopo il passo falso di Out of Exile questo Revelations si fa sentire molto di più.
Wide Awake: la canzone più politica mai composta dagli Audioslave, musicalmente bella ed epica.

Il risultato è un gran bel Cd con ritornelli spumeggianti, acuti alla Cornell che è sempre e comunque cosa buona e sano cazzuto rock.
Questo è un gran bell'album, merita il vostro ascolto, ci sarà sicuramente qualcosa che vi colpirà, qualcosa di inaspettato.... vi colpirà una rivelazione... magari che siete gay.

Non è un album che farà la storia della musica, ma è riuscito a dimostrare che anche gli Audioslave sono stati in grado di creare momenti di musica splendida.
La vera gemma dell'album è "Wide Awake", una canzone di protesta contro l'immobilismo dell'amministrazione Bush.
