Terzo capitolo degli Audioslave, dopo gli annunci di influenze r'n'b, groove alla Earth Wind & Fire e tanto hard-rock zeppeliniano bisogna dire che stavolta hanno fatto un buon lavoro.
Indubbiamente direte che il primo è il migliore e su questo sono d'accordo ma dopo il passo falso di Out of Exile questo Revelations si fa sentire molto di più. Innanzitutto i testi sono migliori del precedente che risentiva di un eccessiva leggerezza sia nella musica che nei testi, e parlano della sua esperienza come padre e di maturità come uomo, poi le musiche sono più potenti e in alcuni episodi ricercate.
Revelations: molto carina, bel riff potente (anke se sa di già sentito) e bei cori con le nuove sfumature black che la voce di Cornell ha acquistato.
One And The Same: la mia preferita di questo disco qui si nota molto l'influenza seventies di Earth Wind & Fire e Led Zeppelin nei riff e nel ritornello che ha un gradevole andamento disco.
Sound Of A Gun: anke questa carina con riff tipici RATM ma con un arrangiamento curato con chitarre acustiche
Until We Fall: ballatona semi-acustica che ricorda Doesn't Remind Me dell'anno scorso. Io ho sentito una versione di Until We Fall con solo Cornell, voce e chitarra che è molto più bella.
Original Fire: il primo singolo molto discusso dai fan per il suo stile particolare che comunque non è male, anche qui molto Earth Wind & Fire con il suo andamento hand-clapping
Broken City: la canzone più particolare del disco che ricorda qualcosa di Springsteen e glam , bello il DU-DU-DU-DU
Somedays: bella potente l'intro rimanda ai Jane's Addiction con un finale urlato
Shape Of Things To Come: un altro mid-tempo ben arrangiato e hard ma un po' monotono
Jewel Of The Summertime: Voce low-fi bel riff vibrante
Wide Awake: la canzone più politica mai composta dagli Audioslave ke parla dei danni dell'uragano Katrina e del disinteressamento dell'amministrazione Bush musicalmete bella ed epica
Nothing Left To Say Goodbye e Moth: due ballate la prima blueseggiante la seconda un po più monotona.
In finale un buon disco con una prima metà varia e scorrevole, la seconda parte un po' più scontata ma non per questo brutta...

Al primo posto si trova infatti la carica e l'immediatezza dei pezzi che finalmente possiedono una struttura non clonata di brano in brano.
Per chi era scettico o non riusciva a sopportare questa band di grandi artisti, qui riusciranno a dare la loro giusta interpretazione.

Il risultato è un gran bel Cd con ritornelli spumeggianti, acuti alla Cornell che è sempre e comunque cosa buona e sano cazzuto rock.
Questo è un gran bell'album, merita il vostro ascolto, ci sarà sicuramente qualcosa che vi colpirà, qualcosa di inaspettato.... vi colpirà una rivelazione... magari che siete gay.

Non è un album che farà la storia della musica, ma è riuscito a dimostrare che anche gli Audioslave sono stati in grado di creare momenti di musica splendida.
La vera gemma dell'album è "Wide Awake", una canzone di protesta contro l'immobilismo dell'amministrazione Bush.
