Darkthrone sono un duo norvegese fondamentale per lo sviluppo del black metal. Nati come gruppo death metal col nome Black Death nel 1986, si sono trasformati in maestri dell’oscurità negli anni '90, con album come 'A Blaze in the Northern Sky', 'Under a Funeral Moon' e 'Transilvanian Hunger'. Noti per un sound grezzo e anti-commerciale, nella carriera hanno contaminato il proprio stile con heavy, punk, doom e speed metal. Membri chiave: Fenriz e Nocturno Culto.
