Dopo una carriera musicale di quasi 50 anni (a partire da 8 anni affiancando la musica alla scuola -era estremamente portato per entrambe le cose-) ecco che Dio annuncia l'uscita del suo nuovo album solista "Master Of The Moon", un viaggio musicale lungo poco più di 45 minuti, un album dai testi cinici e politici, dove Ronnie James Dio non rinuncia a fare critiche negative (attraverso l'uso della metafora) alla Società Americana e al presidente degli USA G.W. Bush.
L'album si apre con la veloce "One More From The World" per proseguire con la title track. E come si potrebbe non citare il terzo brano "The End Of The World" ? una canzone bellissima, stile AC/DC (alcuni riff ricordano molto 'Back In Black'), dove si percepiscono gli influssi del drummer Simon Wright, già, appunto, con AC/DC.
È il momento del quarto brano, "Shivers", che, divergendo dalle sonorità di "Master Of The Moon", sembrerebbe uscito dall'album (sempre di Dio) "Angry Machines"). Segue la canzone dai testi più significativi dal lato politico di questo album, "The Man Who Would Be King", che assomiglia molto al brano "My Eyes" (sempre di Dio) dall'album "Lock Up The Wolves".
"The Eyes", il sesto brano di questo capolavoro, è una canzone molto cupa (ricorda il genere dell'album "Dehumanizer" dei Black Sabbath) e dai ritmi molto scanditi. Ecco che arriva "Living The Lie", una canzone potentissima che ogni volta che la sento mi da carica, come se mi avessero fatto un'iniezione di adrenalina.
L'ottavo brano è "I Am", dai testi cinici che esaltano il male. "Death By Love", la nona canzone, narra di un uomo che morto per amore (come dice anche il titolo). L'album si chiude con "In Dreams", una canzone semplicemente stupenda, ne consiglio l'ascolto a tutti!
In alcune edizioni dell'album, c'è un bonus track intitolato "The Prisoner Of Paradise" che purtroppo non ho avuto modo di sentire. Un album che merita l'ascolto e che non può e non deve mancare nella collezione musicale di un metallaro.
I Dio stanno producendo un nuovo album che uscirà a Maggio con il medesimo line-up di "Master Of The Moon": alla voce il carismatico Ronnie James Dio; all'ascia bianca (chitarra) Craig Goldy (esordì con i Giuffria); al basso il mitico Rudy Sarzo, già con Ozzy Osbourne, Malmsteen e Whitesnake; dietro le pelli (come ho già detto) vi è Simon Wright e, infine, alle tastiere troviamo Scott Warren. Di "Master Of The Moon" esiste anche un'edizione per collezionisti in vinile (LP) che sto cercando di comprare.
