Premessa fondamentale, onde evitare fraintendimenti, questo tipo di recensioni si basa sulle riflessioni di dischi ai quali sono MOLTO affezzionato, che siano essi metal/rock/jazz/pop/soul. Se la musica fosse oggettiva, non avrebbe senso ascoltarla e godere della meraviglia del suono che può regalare sensazioni mutevoli alle varie persone. Sarà di conseguenza una recensione breve
Obscura rappresenta l'apice dei Gorguts, l'affresco meccanicamente monumentale di una mente geniale chiamata Luc Lemay. Un disco straordinariamente perfetto, che era stato concepito ben prima, ma nessuno osò garantire la possibilità ai Gorguts di incidere tale meraviglia.
"Obscura" rappresenta l'inferno non più visto attraverso visioni caotiche e irrazionali, ma attraverso una serie di ingranaggi musicali complessissimi. L'ascoltatore si perde dinnanzi a tale complessità così meccanicamente ideata, mentre il vocione dissonante di Lemay inquieta l'ascoltatore. Dopo un'ora e due minuti di ascolto si rimane in un "Sweet Silence", un inquietante spaccato della nostra contorta psiche, mentre delle pulsioni nel finale lasciano il povero ascoltatore in balia del tempo e della morte.
