Se per caso vi dovesse capitare di salire in cima al Park Guell di Barcellona e osservare la città splendidamente incastonata tra mare e colline avendo a disposizione tre cd ("Deftones" Deftones, "Noah's Ark" Cocorosie e "Scary World Theory" Lali Puna) non esitate e inserite nel vostro lettore il terzo. La voce di Valerie scaverà dentro di voi senza possibilità di sfuggita.
Se ascoltate per la prima volta questo cd non iniziate dalla prima canzone, "Nin-Com-Pop", seppur bellissima e coinvolgente ma da "Don't Think" che con i suoi loop avvolgenti può essere senz'altro eretta a manifesto di questo piccolo capolavoro dell'elettronica. Poi fate scorrere il vostro ascolto passando per "Scary World Theory", la titletrack, e potrete assaporare l'asetticità e l'imponenza del gruppo crudamente inquadrate nell'algida scena iniziale de "Le Conseguenze Dell'Amore" da Paolo Sorrentino. Proseguite con la ritmica incalzante di "Middle Curse" perfettamente abbinata alla voce appena sussurrata e dirigetevi verso "50 Faces Of", la canzone più dura dell'album che richiama "Maxinquaye" del geniale Tricky col suo inizio scandito dai tamburi e il costante ritmo martellante. Concludete la vostra esplorazione nel mondo etereo e dissolvente dei Lali Puna con "Come On Home" e "Satur-Nine" che chiudono il disco esprimendo la loro ancestrale vena minimalista retaggio della inconfondibile scena musicale tedesca. Due brani che ricordano, con i loro campionamenti, la disarmante freddezza di "Draft 7. 30" degli Autechre.
Alla fine del vostro ascolto frazionato, differito e anticipato rispetto alla tracklist vi accorgerete di aver fatto un bel viaggio all'interno della vostra psiche perché questo è un disco che mette nelle condizioni psicofisiche adatte per riflettere e soprattutto immaginare.
