Nativo di New York, figlio di un ebreo russo e di una donna delle Bahamas, Kravitz incarna magnificamente il senso del suono sfaccettato e multirazziale di oggi.
La sua musica è un magma incandescente di citazioni e furti più o meno consapevoli, tra Beatles, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin e la musica nera aspra, da Sly and The Family Stone a Prince. Dopo la caduta di "Baptism" (che a mio avviso è l'unico album di Lenny che vale la pena di non ascoltare), ecco l'ottavo capitolo che non aggiunge niente a quanto mostrato negli anni precedenti. Ancora una volta Kravitz vaga con furbizia e nonchalance fra tanti sottogeneri non rivelando mai il suo reale profilo artistico.
Ma questo è l'album che riprende la filosofia dei Led Zeppelin proprio nell'anno della reunion, cercando di costruire un LP dell'età dorata come evidenziano "Love Revolution" , "Bring It On" e "Love Love Love" . Si passa successivamente a "Good Morning" plagio spudorato beatlesiano e alla buona penna Pop di "If You Want It". "Will You Warry Me" riprende il suo Funky acido e corrosivo dei bei tempi mentre "I Love The Rain" è un'altra ballata in stile Beatles. "Dancin' Til Dawn" ricorda invece quelle canzoni in stile Roxy Music di Manifesto. "This Moment Is All There Is" è una classica canzone in stile Kravitz per poi ritornare ai Beatles con "A New Door". L'album si chiude con un richiamo alla guerra in Iraq "Back in Vietnam"con suoni molto sixties e "I Want To Go Home".
Alla lunga il gioco di reciglaggio può diventare stucchevole e le 14 tracce nulla tolgono, ne aggiungono al discusso artista ma dopotutto si deve lodare un artista di questo calibro. Da scartare il mega-singolo creato per mtv e per motivi economici "I'll Be Waiting" e anche "A Long And Sad Goodbye" canzone dedicata al padre.
NOTA BENE: Alcune versioni contengono anche delle Bonus Track molto interessanti e forse le più belle del cd come "We Want Peace" e "Uncharted Terrain"e "Confused". Spero che dopo l'ascolto di questo cd non abbiate ancora il coraggio di sparare su questo grande artista.LET LOVE RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Se avesse potuto fare qualcosa di buono l'avrebbe già fatto.
Un disco che scende giù come una bibita ghiacciata in pieno agosto; piacevolissimo ed effimero per quello che è.
