Recensire "The Moment" di Lisa Stansfield è per me una cosa tanto emozionante quanto difficile: emozionante perchè questa cantante è stata, per come la vedo io, sempre un punto di riferimento nel pop/soul, difficile perchè ho sempre la paura che anche la nostra signora di classe si pieghi ai clichè dell'orrido pop plasticoso che gira in questo periodo; le mie aspettative su quest'album come avrete(spero) capito sono dunque molte elevate.
Il disco fortunatamente si presenta molto bene, mostrandoci come al solito le fantastiche doti vocali dell'artista che si muove tra tonalità dolci e delicate al fine di regalarci quasi 50 minuti di buonissima musica leggera. L'album è formato 11 tracce tutte, o quasi, interessanti ed qualcune molto belle con testi che come al solito sono mai banali e ben strutturati e che arricchiscono ulteriormente un prodotto già di buona qualità. Le canzoni, si muovono tra territori più marcatamente pop, come ad esempio la song d'apertura, ad altri più dance (per dance in questo caso non si intende quell' aberrante simil musica composta da suoni computerizzati e fastidiosi), passando per il soul fino ad arrivare a canzoni che strizzano l'occhio ad un rock molto molto melodico. Le tracce migliori sono: "Easier", che ha l'arduo compito di aprire l'album e che si presenta come song pop molto raffinata e delicata, ma anche "When Love Breaks Down" dal forte sapore dance oppure la soul "He Touches Me"; le tracce meno riuscite sono invece "Treat Me Like A Woman" che a causa di un ritmo cervellotico e di una struttura poco azzeccata si fa dimenticare presto e "Takes A Woman To Know" per la quale vale il discorso fatto per "Treat Me..."
In definitiva mi sento di consigliare questo disco a tutti gli amanti del pop di classe e a coloro che amano ascoltare cantanti dalle eccellenti doti vocali e la signora Stansfield ne ha di voce, altrochè.
