I Loudness sono un gruppo heavy metal giapponese fondato a Osaka nel Maggio del 1981 dal chitarrista Akira Takasaki e dal batterista Munetaka Higuchi (scomparso nel 2008 a causa di un male incurabile al fegato). Sono cosiderati i pionieri di quello che viene chiamato dai giapponesi "Japameta" ovvero il metal "Made in Japan", inoltre sono il primo gruppo metal proveniente dal Giappone, ad acquisire notorietà all'estero, riuscendo a raggiungere la Billboard Top 100 nel loro periodo di maggior successo e a pubblicare album per un'etichetta discografica statunitense.
I Loudness, in Europa e in America, sono più conosciuti per Thunder In The East, primo album americano ma The Law of Devil's Land e il successivo Disillusion sono decisamente superiori, in quanto più duri e puri e meno commerciali rispetto a quelli del periodo statunitense.
The Law of Devil's Land pubblicato nel lontano 1983 mette in mostra una delle migliori prestazioni e composizioni della band, come ci mostrano la coinvolgente In the Mirror, la scoppiettante title track, o come le orecchiabili Show Me the Way e I Wish You Were Here. Ci sono poi anche pezzi più lenti che strizzano l'occhio al rock progressivo e ai Rush, come per esempio la ballad Mr.Yes Man o la cupa Black Wall. il disco infine si chiude con Sleepless Night un inno alla vita notturna e la velocissima Speed. Insomma questo disco rappresenta un punto di svolta nella storia del gruppo e grazie a questo riusciranno ad ottenere il primo ingaggio per un tour in Europa e in Nord America. L'album è interamente cantato in giapponese, pubblicato in Giappone nel 1983 dalla Nippon Columbia è stato poi pubblicato in Europa nel 2005 dall'etichetta olandese Roadrunner Records.
