Cantante, chitarrista e pianista blues nato nel 1902 a Bentonia (Mississippi) e morto nel 1969. Divenne leggendario per le registrazioni Paramount del 1931, la voce in falsetto e la chitarra in tonalità minore; riscoperto al Newport Folk Festival nel 1964, incise per Vanguard album come Today! e Devil Got My Woman.
