Dopo aver sfornato "Never Seen the Light of the Day", album che li allontana dall'indie rock che li aveva caratterizzati fino a quel momento, gli svedesi tornano al rock'n'roll con un disco che ricorda i loro primi lavori ma che porta con sé delle novità interessanti. L'utilizzo di strumenti da orchestra e di un coro femminile come background arricchiscono "Gloria", traccia che rende tanto durante i live grazie al ritornello da puro singalong. "Dance with Somebody" è il pezzo più commerciale, ha fatto storcere il naso a parecchi fan storici del gruppo. Sarà il tentativo tanto agognato dal cantante Gustaf Norén di dominare il mondo grazie alla Mando Diao Mania? Canzone abbastanza ripetitiva e con un testo piuttosto banale ma coinvolgente grazie al ritmo incalzante che ricorda le basi delle canzoni Disco anni '70.
Segue "High Heels", un esperimento musicale, a parer mio ben riuscito, che cerca di amalgamare un giro di basso che sa di blues con una tromba che sa di jazz, il tutto condito dalla batteria che suona una marcetta. "Mean Street" è una traccia orecchiabile e ben costruita, allegra e ballabile, col coretto nel ritornello e un pianoforte buttato là che condisce il tutto. La title track "Give me Fire" emana grande energia e fa ripartire il disco dopo la lentissima strumentale "A Decent Life". Altro fieno in cascina lo portano "Maybe Just Sad" e "Go Out Tonight" coi loro ritornelli ipermelodici e coinvolgenti, in entrambe le canzoni Dixgard e Norén salgono di un tono dopo le prime strofe.
Troppi i 6 minuti della ballata "Crystal", il pezzo è noioso e sembra non finire mai. Per fortuna "You Got Nothing on Me" ridà brio al disco riportandoci il vecchio ed efficace sound sentito nei primi lavori del quartetto. "Blue Lining White Trenchcoat" e "The Shining" aprono e chiudono un LP dal ritmo spedito e che non delude le aspettative di chi voleva un disco del genere dopo il loro lavoro precedente.
