"Loose" ovvero come leccare il culo agli americani (statunitensi pardon) per vendere di più ed arrivare in vetta alle classifiche.
Nelly Furtado era colei che aveva composto la splendida "Try", colei aveva visto in Portogallo un contadino discendere da una collina con una maglietta della coca-cola e usato tale contrasto come ispirazione per la stesura di folklore, colei che stentava a vendere mezzo milione di copie e in classifica ci appariva una settimana o due (e in posizione basse), colei che nei video non ballava ammiccante e non si vestiva succinta ma preferiva vestirsi da contadina dell'ottocento, colei che componeva sia in inglese che in portoghese (la Furtado è canadese fglia di immigrati portoghesi).
Dunque alla notizia che nel 2006 sarebbe uscito il suo terzo lavoro l'attesa era alta. Invece la Furtado sceglie Timbaland come produttore (quello che produce le schifezze musicali di Justin Timberlake per intenderci ed uno dei produttori in voga al momento negli States) per lanciare sul mercato Usa "Promiscuos girl" che si rivelerà un grandissimo successo e resterà sette settimane al numero 1. La canzone non è bruttissima, ma non è nientedi originale, sa tanto di deja vu, di riciclaggio di cose che oltre oceano dominano ormai da anni.
Leccare il culo insomma, pur di piacere. Altre cose del genere fanno bella mostra di sè e tralasceremo ogni riflessione tanta è la delusione.
Nella seconda parte dell'album fa capolinea la vecchia Nelly, che usa sonorità moderne per rinvigorire la sua vecchia attitudine musicale; ci riferiamo a perle come "Say it right", "In God's hand" (composta con Chris Martin, il cantante dei Coldplay) e "All good things come to an end".
In esse l'intimismo tipico della Furtado ritorna e stavolta si giova del sound di Timbaland che investe di una certà modernità il sound tipicamente europeo della nostra.
Le stellette sono solo due però per due motivi:
1) Le cose buone sono meno di quelle non buone;
2) La delusione per "Promiscuos girl" (che nel videoclip vede una splendida Nelly Furtado esibirsi in sensuali balli dance per far sbavare i teenager statunitensi e omologarsi alla produzione imperante negli States) e simili e così tanta da oscurare anche ciò che di buono c'è nell'opera.
Rimpiangiamo i tempi in cui Nelly cantava "Try", ma prendiamo atto del nuovo atteggiamento.
P.S. : Fortunatamente circolano in rete versioni acustiche dei brani di "Loose" che in parte alleviano la delusione, in quanto per lo meno si può apprezzare ancora la brava interprete e musicista.
